Ozrics in Portland OR....
First time they have played in Oregon to my knowledge....
Was a free show at a warehouse space on the North side and it was PACKED...
Alot of String Cheese Hippie kids got turned on to one of the greatest bands ever..
Show was good...Not too pleased with the sound though...and the Kid playin' synths (Who is that?) was kinda shabby....
But, when Ed's synths failed they just rocked more of the guitar oriented stuff, which was awesome..he hasn't lost a thing on the six string!
So happy they came to my town....haven't seen them since the Waterfall Cities tour...
Was a treat for sure!

Hello to all Ozric fans!
Just thought I would join the list and say what a fantastic show we were treated to last night in Seattle!! I also caught the Portland show the night before with the technical hiccups and all, but the Seattle show was stunning! Hello to Oliver, yes I made it on the message board! It was truly fantastic to see this music live again after the almost 10 years its been for me!
I wanted to say, and I hope I speak for all who read this, that while Ozric is out touring the States and gaining popularity, which will continue to grow I'm sure (as they have moved to our fine country!), we fans would love to act as a networked promotional street team! If I had more time and materials (the Seattle show was announced rather late), I would have gone and out and hit the streets to help promote the show! Many Jam bands use this technique, and I am all for it! If anyone agrees or knows how we can help in this manner, please let me know!
Thanks again for the awesome show! Forever Ozric Tentacles - Andy

I think I met you before the show in Seattle. I talked with someone who had seen the Portland show the night before and it was most like you alone who made both shows. I agree about getting the word out and I would do anything I caould to help promote the band. I am grateful they keep their mind on music and not business but REALLY! Not posting tour dates is just rediculous. Touring without promoting the tour is like fishing in a bathtub or .... well ... you get the idea. Without a doubt one of the finest shows I've seen. Not sure what's up with the other keyboardist but MAN OH MAN what a drummer!!!!! And I think Brandi is an absolutely first class bassist. Mark in Anacortes

Rare Blend is quite an excellent choice as openers for the Cleveland show. Wonderful band as they are people!

Heading to Chicago show tonite. Havent seen the mates for 2 years. Shout a hello to me if you're from around these parts. I'll be the tall guy with long hair wearing either a tie dye, a kilt, or lots of white fur, dancing like a fool, grinning like a Cheshire.
Cheers! Bill
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people. Cheshire Cat: Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.

Was anyone else at the show in Madison WI? I thought they were a 4 piece band now. They had some guy guest on keyboards or whatever that thing is that Brandy was doing. It looked like Ed's son.
Anybody?

The member that comes out and plays keys on and off during the set is in fact Ed's son Silas

After listening to Jurrasic Shift since '93 (yeah I know my bad for not getting more of the catalog.) I had the pleasure of seeing them for the first time Thu. nite at the beautiful memorial union terrace in my home town of Madison Wi. I sat next to some people by the soundboard ( hey Jason it's Ron the setlist dude) and they had never heard of the band, they just come to the venue for the excellent summer concert series on Thursday nites. By the second song all chit chat had stopped and two of them had left for a closer view. By midset 3 of the original 8 were left at the table, the rest were upfront getting their ears melted and minds blown. I buy the way felt the same, great show, amazing sound quality and clarity and an amazing venue (outdoors literaly on the lakefront with a backdrop of sailboats in the sunset) my first show will CERTAINLY NOT be my last.

I'm thinking about hitting the concert tomorrow (well, technically today) in Cleveland.
What have the set-lists been like for the 2009 U.S. tour? I'm curious to know what they'll be likely to be playing.

Pittsburgh had the same setlist as Cleveland. I think it worked well to have all the songs that Silas plays on at the end. He did a great job, especially on the more complex synthy stuff. Ollie was amazing - definitely a joy to watch, especially for my drummer buddies. Brandi's bass playing has gotten a lot stronger since the last time we saw them at All Good in 2007. She was also cracking jokes and making the audience laugh with her witty comments and "insights" into the music. I was surprised that they showed up with no merch to sell. I'm not sure how the business model of being a band works across the pond, but here in the US, selling merch while on tour is the #1 way indie bands make money (and gain fans too). It's unfortunate to see them missing out on that opportunity since they're touring anyway. They should at least have some extra YYT CDs along. Did they have merch at any of the other shows so far? Club Cafe was a great venue for this concert since it's intimate and worked well with the number of people that were there. There were a lot of prog rock fans in the audience. Some folks drove in from DC for the concert too. The band also stuck around after the show and came out to talk to anyone who was still hanging around. That's one of the things I love about them - very approachable.

Saw the New York City show on Saturday! My first Ozrics concert. Been wanting to get a change to see them since 1994. Great performance! Does anyone know the setlist. It was basically the same as Pittsburgh, but I think they had to cut things short because of time. I don't recall them doing Jurassic Shift

we were there too, and it was a great show... too bad it got cut short due to incoming hip-hop dance party. i have not heard the ozrics this tight and focused since 2000, and i hope it signals a more stable era in their history coming our way.
i have the setlist from NYC as
bolshem splat! the throbbe coily eternal wheel pyramidion (enter silas) o-i og-ha-be hup-ho world white rhino tea saucers jam mooncalf sploosh!
(can someone confirm that?)
'twas great to see you dom! hope you've had a safe trip back to london
also went to the burlington vt show last night.... if possible, they were playing even better there, but the show was rather short due to a late start and low turnout (about 40-50 folks)
i have a setlist in front of me, but they didn't follow it ... here's what they played as I recall
bolshem splat! coily eternal wheel pyramidion (enter Silas) o-i og-ha-be saucers jam jurassic shift mooncalf sploosh!
the burlington show highlights the ongoing problem of no publicity and no merchandise for sale at shows... if ed and co. are serious about getting established here in the states they need to get some effective management to take care of those things...
otherwise, great to see the best band in the world 2 nights running... and in such good form

june 25th in baltimore kicked ass, they were on point and hitting it space style, specific setlist was:
bolshem splat eternal wheel coily pyramidion o-i og-ha-be > thyroid jam hup-ho-world saurcers > awesome jam white rhino tea Jurassic shift moon calf encore: sploosh
I must say, ed's son on the keys really helped make my night, that guy was hittin every note...last few times i've seen the ozrics some of those leads weren't quite all there but with silas on the squad the songs are even more solid (possible?)
All of em ripped to their normal awesome-ness, brandi was droppin bombs, ed was shreddin, ollie holds it together with stellar rhythm, and silas synthed it up like his old man...beautifully
got to chat with ed and brandi after the gig, a gitty pleasure as usual, cant wait to see em again!

Finally met the band after the show at the State. I rove down from New York on Thursday, saw them at 8X10 = small crowd - seemed like a lot of local bar regulars to me...camped my body next to the wall and board......drove home. Friday, on impulse, decided I must see them again, drove to Virginia from New York - there was a tree down on route 81 , 8 mile backup - but I arrived at the theatre precisely as they were goin onstage; grabbed a balcony seat and let the Bacchanalia ensue. Absolutely perfect show for me, and I managed to grab a CD from the Sunrise Festival (first CD case came apart in Brandi's hands...she had (Lance, was it? I was pretty tranced) grab me a fresh one...finally met the band and got a chance to thank them for the finw work they do. ** OZRIC TENTACLES? I love you - thanks again!

O - and many thanks to Lance (please do forgive if I am mis-remembering your name, I was pretty tranced) for helping me with meeting the band. Enjoy Colorado, folks! Much love to all who know that "they all come from the shy you know..."

Wow...that doesn't even sound a tiny bit like Lance... Okay, okay, but the vowel was correct, and I knew there was an "N" in there somewhere - I suppose I can take some comfort in that. Thanks again - I look forward to many more shows. Let me know of anything I can do to help get the word out when you guys are back on the road! (Though on one level I think we should keep this phantasmagoria to ourselves) I'll probably miss the Sep 6th show in Chapel Hill...I have a full load of classes on Monday, and travelling through a rip in the fabric of spacetime to make it back to New York would be a vulgar display of power! (Mind you, I remain tempted to try it...) Thanks again :-) PS - Trying to grab a copy of Yum Yum Tree from www.backstreet-merch.com/bands/oz/ , but I don't see the CD, just the T-Shirt...I'd prefer the majority of my money go to the band rather than various media-mogul middleman or online music giants...any suggestions?

I got the new disc from here: www.burningshed.com/store/ozrictentacles/product/273/1460/I got an 'unofficial' feeling (that seems to feel true)... we probably can still order the new disc somewhere near there-a-bouts... ^ dunno wot the bands cut was there but they seemed like the krusty-friendly place for me to shop for it plus one wot might likely benefit the band proper since they are benefitting the fans proper by providing schwag and incentives... (and seemly gots' an extensive offering from the ozric catalog to boot).

Found a new date.. • Sep • 5 Sat The Orange Peel Asheville, NC 09:00 PM Ozric Tentacles on sale:Fri, 07/24/09 12:00 PM Yay! Perhaps another tour leg is starting, and it may seem, with a nod toward a chance to involve more southeasternly US shows this outing! Looks like I will be more likely to catch them this go 'round...

Hello, just joined up, saw my second show at Falls Church VA's State Theater last month. Can ANYONE help me out with a set list? It was a great show, but I don't know enough material to be Ozric fluent yet. Many thanks! Bob G.
