Just in case the band see this it would be awesome to hear Tidal Convergence. I plan to be at Birmingham and London shows. Not sure how doable that is though.

I hope Ozrics come back to Margate sometime soon, the last couple of times have been awesome -- especially the one where Merv collapsed through exhaustion (you know it's been a great gig when the drummer needs an ambulance!). If not there, anywhere else in Kent would be perfect... ;-)

Manchester - it rained loads. Leeds - it rained a bit. York, it didn't rain. 'Nough of the weather - three excellent Ozric shows, places to be! Lots of old stuff, plenty of new stuff, what more could one want? I mean, Ed broke his Heavy Guitar at the York gig, and the gig still kept on. Superb gigs by a great band - lovely bass riff in Mooncalf, unexpected and very welcome flute-playing and voice during Dissolution. I was the daft bastard in the Norwegian flag hat who ripped it up a tiny little bit to The Throbbe. Many, many thanks - so many thanks to all!

Well getting ready for Brum now and looking forwards to it, hoping for a few different tunes from Bristol but happy either way I just like the whole atmosphere. Exciting. looks like decent driving weather at the mo.
Broke his guitar eh... doing a the solo in Vibuthi ? I imagine a string, hope the entire neck did not get ripped off or he burnt holes in the fret board.

You go for years without meeting any Ozrics board members, then all of a sudden you meet 4 at once in York. Great to see my favourite band again, and meet Yog, Nutter, Pete and Kirk.

Birmingham was rammed, full house ! Nice one Orpheus. I concur bestbass42 well worth the drive and getting in at 2am, I was really blown away by Brandi's bass playing on the Paper Monkeys track (gonna have a closer look at that tracks bass line) She is is a killer bass player, relaxed and rolls the notes off the fretboard, sounds like heavy and solid playing.
I grabbed my chance to quickly give Ed a little gift, a bit of Malachite stone (lovely banded light green colour) Which I picked up that he liked in an interview, it was all a bit rushed but they seemed genuinely thankful I did not want to disturb them for long. I do wonder if Ed's guitar fret board insets are made of that stone on his Ibanez, he mentioned that stone and his fretboard in the interview I read. Anyway what a band to know about hey?... fantastic.
There was a great short interlude piece as well synths based which I will find the name of, it was a pleasant surprise hearing it. It has quite a dark opening mainly synths and deep sub bass sounded great on the sound system.
EDIT : Yes it was Spyroid from curious corn, the bass kills me at the start of the track. Also they played Xingu, love that track from Waterfall Cities a classy album.
Please try and make it next year too Ozrics, 2 years would seem a long time.

Its just gone 1am as I write this note... just got back from Islington gig. It was a great show even with the spat with Jon and Ed, which was a result of Jon singing. Ed walked off with Jon quick to follow hardly 30seconds it was over with little interuption. Gig was so good my girly friend said she would go again.

Yes that was a bit odd and I think that was resolved in a quick and effective manner, very professional IMO. I was absolutely over joyed they played Tidal Convergence (with John too : ) that track has a deeply spiritual feel for me. Ed was absolutely on fire at times and it was a fantastic night to attend. I think we are really lucky to have such a great band inspiring us and producing unusual, surprising, interesting music. I am gonna buy Dream machines album as well to show some love, I had a very brief chat with John and shook his hand. Also a nice mention to Ed's dad on the balcony who is also an inspired artist (sculptor) in his own right. A beautiful shot of the work of David Wynne : www.armstrongauditorium.org/files/2012/6089/0550/Swan-at-night_lowres.jpg

hey ed, yeah, was great to see you too (as well as everyone else, too many people to mention etc...) - i wore your hat on the way home, still loving it totally awesome night as always, really great set, for those of you who have not been to any gigs yet on this tour but are going you will have lots of fun... i bet everyone has read the setlist, but even if you have (it's really nice) you will be blown away actually hearing it live... it's really upbeat and happy... big shout out to paul and jon too - thanks for your opening set big love to all dom

Yep, i had a great night, liked Jon's set, i had a quick word with him at the end of the night, i wanted to know how to get hold of some of his solo stuff, but alas, he doesn't do CD's or sell any of his solo music, which is a real shame, as him and the other guy on percussion were class. If anything i thought the venue sort of diminished his act a little as his music is quite intermate and i think would come across better in a small pub or something. The Ozrics were great, and what i did like, and this ain't a cuss, but half way through Og Ha Be, they went slightly out of time with each other, nothing major. But that for me was quite refreshing to hear, because as i'm not a musician or know anything about playing live in a band, i wonder how much of the Ozrics music at a gig is actually live playing, and how much is prerecorded. Only because of the amount of sound effects they incorporate into their music. So to hear them slightly go out of time, when up to that point sounding real good and after, was for me personally quite satisfying in a funny sort of way. Lastly great meeting you all, and see ya again sometime.

Ed's Dad, David Wynne, is a famous sculptor and the pic shows him with his breakthrough piece of the Beatles in 1964. He has had many commissions and was also responsible for the Euro 'Hands' on the 50p coin. So Ed was bought up in a creative household and the story goes that Jimi Hendrix ( a friend of his Dad )! bounced Ed on his knee a young child. These things tend to have an effect on you in later life. Attachments:

On the subject of Ed and Art, Ozricnutter commissioned me to paint a portrait of Ed a few years back. He told me the exact moment he wanted me to capture from the 'Live at the Pongmasters Ball' D.V.D. So, this is Ed frozen in music nirvana from that show. Attachments:
