You just love spooky stuff Kev.....OCHRE is well cool, and fits well with me.
The opening to ONE OF THOSE PORRIDGY THINGS reminds me (only just i admit) to the opening of JELLY LIPS? But what's the Ozric track i am trying to liking it to when OOTPT gets going....after about 25 seconds?

Coily Steve. the melody at 25 seconds is used in the Coily solo

Thanks for that Kev. Chilled indeed, and enjoyed the guitar work.....reminded me sound wise of Allan Holdsworth truth be.

you're too kind steve. I'd consider Allan to be totally peerless personally, amazing musician and soulful tone. Long time favourite of mine

Playing the track ARBORESCENCE right now. One of my favourite Ed guitar pieces/solos, albeit a tad short. But firstly that gorgeous flute work........ahhhh big sigh.... Ed's work is magic and works a treat. Biggest buzz is at the end of it (4.10). The way he finishes it off gets me every time.

One of the first Ozrics albums I heard and I was totally blown away. there was literally nothing like it. I got the album in the late summer/early autumn and spent many early evening hours riding around the country lanes herbalised listening to it as the sky was turning pink. Totally love the guitar playing throughout.

There's a moment in Yog-Bar-Og on 2.46, where Ed's chugachugachuga bit reminds me of how the Edge sounds/sounded? Just a quirky nuance perhaps...

I reckon Arborescence is a better album overall compared to Jurassic Shift, although the title track on the latter is absolutely perfect.

Though i like the track, FENG SHUI needs trimming, and PTERANODON, which i rarely listen to as i find it a bit of a yawn, are the two slight minuses for me on otherwise a cracking album. SUNHAIR is a beaut, and TRAIN OASIS just oozes class and style. ARBORESCENCE is near brutal in places, with lots of (lovely) noise even. Enjoy them both but would sway to ARBORESCENCE, probably!

Playing the SLIDING GLIDING WORLDS album right now. I am not a old time Ozrics fan - only heard them and got into them through Phlly around 2004 - but have got all there stuff blah blah and love em'.
Thing is, the track I am playing right now I have heard many a time, but for a million pounds, id not be able to name it. I just don't get it how that happens with me and the Ozrics :-( Dunno if any others get that?
Great track by the way - ill have to look soon see what its called - doh!

I know every single track since Erpland and can name it almost on spot. Which makes my friends surprised as they tend to think it`s good, but for them it sounds the same all the time and it`s the reason why they give up on Ozrics pretty fast.
Well, I myself never liked any of their recordings on spot. It just takes time but it`s the most rewarding music I`ve ever heard in my life. Not so long ago I complained about YumYum Tree, then I`ve liked half of it, now it`s the Ozrics record I listen to most often and love 7 out of 8 songs. On the other hand, I don`t love Curious Corn half as much as when I began my journey with Ozrics. Funny thing how it evolves.

Hey Sabbs, I know the album tracks aurally off by heart, know exactly how the next track starts and finishes etc but I too have to sometimes look up the track names and I have been a HUGE fan since the late 80's!! At gigs it's the same, kick muck and sploosh are the only old tracks I can name instantly so you are not alone. I guess the songs flow together so well when listening to them it's easy to not split them into different tracks. However, I love them all and have to say that I am addicted to this band and have been for so very long. Just love 'em to bits!! Have to say that Arborescence is one of my fave albums too, used to have posters of Jurassic Shift, Arborescence and Strangeitude hung up in my house....

I can name almost all album tracks and at gigs I need just the intro - well, setlists are mostly predictable, so that helps too - but I have often found myself midway through a tune having completely forgotten which one it is I'm listening to. And that's not necessarily during a jam either.

Yiannis, that happens to me sometimes. Especially after some cups of strong tea. But I think it's a good thing to float about and let go. It can be a little weird but nice.

FENG SHUI: Nice groove and feel. Yummy noises and shit like that. Neat....BUT a tad long with the continued riff, AND the sudden and near manic change is not quite on the button, in my humble opinion of course...

I used to love Feng Shui when I first listened to it. I still think the intro and the thrashy ending are great, each one in its way. I mean Joie's solo is fantastic and Ed's riff behind it is also brilliant. The middle part feels rather random though. I rarely listen to it anymore. The rest of the album though...

I struggle with PTERANODON, to be perfectly honest. Too samey for too long. I'm a fuss pot I suppose, but an honest one.

A GO DO GO DO DA. This reminds me of a Hawkwind track - is it 'Hassan-i Sabbah'? Good stuff.

smileasizer is a fantastic tune, i love the spacey creepy vibe it gives me. i hope brandi puts more of these early daze and dats and reels downloads on their site, i really love the old synths they used back in the day.
