Hey Sabbra, since these tunes were not supposed to be commercially released they (Nodens) probably didn't bother naming them. They never introduced tunes onstage the three times I saw them either.

Hi Yiannis. Yeah, thinking about it it was a bit of a naff question, and half realised they were probably not titled. And also now realise this is not the disc/gig i intended to question about! Made a right pigs' ear of this tonight! I may come back when ive got the right gig! Cheers anyway...

A bootleg simply known as Phoenix 16/1/03. I don't think you can find it outside Soulseek unless you know someone who already has it. So, as I was advised before you, get on Soulseek.

Hmm not sure I wanna do peer to peer stuff really, it's a torrent right? Where there is loads of copywritten music for free ? I prefer to support an artist cause of my line of work it is not morally right. I would like it but it seems like a slippery slope. Thanks anyway.
Whats Ozrics view on bootlegs ?

Since the fire, all the Ozrics archives have been lost so Soulseek is the only way to listen to this material. Those Nodens bootlegs is largely non-copyrighted, exclusive material. The extended Ozrics family has a lot of obscure stuff, a lot of which is unavailable to buy and/or not copyrighted. There was once a section on this site dealing with bootleg policy, which, if I remember correctly, was not against them. You can still buy downloadables from the ozrics.com site.

Playing some GONG on my Mini Disc player. Really like their stuff, which is hardly surprising I guess, but would like them much more if they were instrumental....

I saw them in '98 and I became a fan on the spot, but only after they played their space rock numbers. I saw them at a Whirl-Y-Gig and they started with their nursery rhyme type songs and I just couldn't see how thery fitted in a psychedelic event... until they played trilogy era stuff.

Just having a listen to IMHOTEP, which has always been my least liked/listened to Ozric track. No difference today. Those booming dummp dummp of the drums throughout just don't do it for me. Dom dom did umm bom bommm...

+1. There Is Nothing is my least favourite studio album. Jabualr is heavenly though, I wish they could do a modern-sounding version of that, the drum machine is a bit too harsh on the original.

Not a big fan of Jabular I have to say - agree with the too harsh sound drum wise, and too in your face for me. I like most of the album though. O-I, Eternal Wheel, Invisible Carpet and the bizarre Airy Area come to mind...

Mmm, the only one I love of those is Invisible Carpet, the others are OK, but the ones that were re-recorded are miles better on the proper albums to those ears. I like The Sacred Turf quite a bit too. Fantastic version on the last tour. By saying it's my least favourite album I don't mean it's a bad album though. For me they haven't released a bad album yet.

Do bands have bad albums though? I know there's always a lesser track, or even a stinker of a track at times. Hmm. What was that Rush album with the red cover?...

Yes, if most of the tracks are filler I consider that album bad. I'll talk about metal, since I'm most familiar with that genre: Metallica - St Anger, Slayer - Diabolus in Musica, Iron Maiden - Virtual XI, Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus etc. Sorry if these albums are unfamiliar, you do have a point that there aren't that many bad albums compared to mediocre ones. Also, sorry if anyone likes any of the albums I mentioned, it all comes down to personal taste.
I'd say that, for me, TIN is a 6.5/10 album.

Yes, I recall buying that Maiden album (don't know why, cos I only ever liked the original singer and those two albums he sang on) and thought it was verging on horrible. Funny that. Not heard the albums you have mentioned, but its not feasible to have heard everything.
I do recall Celtic Frost's 'Cold Lake' album, and that was disappointing, more than bad, cos I got into the two albums before that.
Some of Ozzy's albums are naff too....

Just played the album again. Some tracks are hypnotic (AUM MAN, BELLIDJELLI), mental/spooky (BALI KNEES) and pure dig (PEOPLE OF EARTH ATTENTION). It's just great stuff.

Just received THERE IS NOTHING on cassette, and a 'Better Days Distribution' release at that. There is a guy's name and address on the cover (in Glastonbury). How original/old are these tapes in the world of Ozric cassette releases?
Much obliged...

After donkey's years I got an impulse to listen to Sabotage - it was as great as I remembered it. Both heavy and at times psychedelic. The Thrill of It All is an underrated song.

Yes, it's a great album with Ozzy sounding great & it has some of their most powerful songs imo; Symptom of The Universe, Megalomania, The Thrill of It All & The Writ, which is one of the few songs that Ozzy wrote most of the lyrics for. Ozzy has stated that he was frustrated with the business end of the music industry, especially his anger towards Patrick Meehan.
From the liner notes of the 1996 Castle Remaster Reissue, Hugh Gilmour adds: "The Writ, which closes Sabotage, is something of a mini rock-opera. Ozzy had been actually handed a writ at a concert directly before taking the stage, and 1975 was the year they parted ways with their current management, Wilf Pine and Patrick Meehan, who were still in dispute with the group's first manager, Jim Simpson, from whom they'd poached the group and propelled them to superstardom."
I'm hoping for Deluxe Expanded Editions of Vol. 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Never Say Die & Technical Ecstasy. The already expanded releases of the other albums are great & contain some pretty cool outtakes with alternate lyrics & instrumental versions of some of the songs as well.

That's the version I have. I don't have every Sabbath album. I have listened to nearly all of them but there are some I don't care for, like Eternal Idol or Cross Purposes.
I do think the first seven are all great, as are all Dio albums and I also enjoy Headless Cross.
I'm not that bothered about owning alternate versions, I can listen to them online and satisfy my curiosity.

Yeah, I agree, The Eternal Idol & Cross Purposes are basically hard rock Tony Iommi solo albums & I don't care for them at all. Headless Cross is pretty good & Tyr is ok too, still occasionally listen to them. Born Again is so-so, rarely revisit it, seen that tour though, ex-The Move & ELO drummer, Bev Bevan manned the throne on that tour, he also did some percussion parts on The Eternal Idol.
yiannis, I think you'd find these of interest:
Black Sabbath (studio outtake w/a few different lyrics) Evil Woman (alternate take w/added flute by Iommi) Warning (Part 1)[alternate take w/slightly different guitar soloing] Weevil Woman '71 (previously unreleased song from 1971) Paranoid (alternate lyrical version) Planet Caravan (alternate lyrical version) Sweet Leaf (studio outtake w/alternate lyrics) Children of The Grave (studio outtake w/alternate lyrics) Lord of This World (studio outtake w/piano & slide guitar) Solitude (alternate guitar tuning & to me, sounds like a different vocal take as well) Into The Void (alternate take w/different lyrics)
Born Again has: The Fallen (previously unreleased album session outtake), an extended version of Stonehenge & the BBC Friday Rock Show broadcast (Live at the Reading Festival, 8/27/83), not essential listening imo, but if you're curious have at it.
Heaven and Hell has: Live Single B-Sides of Children of The Sea & Heaven and Hell, the 7" Single Mono Edit of Lady Evil & 4 songs Live in Hartford, CN., 1980.
Mob Rules has: 14 songs recorded live at The Hammersmith Odeon, London, between 12/31/81-1/2/82
Dehumanizer has: Master of Insanity (Single Edit), Letters From Earth (B-Side version), Time Machine (Wayne's World version), & 5 live songs from The Sundome, Tampa, FL., 7/25/92
Happy hunting & enjoy! \,,/_(-,-)_\,,/

Cheers bucketpod. I think I've heard some of those, but they can't have struck me as great since I can't rememberr which ones they are. Probably the MoR tracks, and I think the unreleased material too. Nothing live though.
