As Merv is a drummer I think that is explanation enough for his roar Steve. You should know that well enough mate being a stick wielder

Oh quite Kev.... So he wasn't trying to put Brandi off tuning up her Bass then? Tee hee...
Funny what you pick up and see a few months down the line after watching a DVD. I caught glimpse of Zia on the side, waving to Merv, and possibly what looks like Silo next to Ed at one point...

Daleyo and I made mention of Jon being in Sunrise dvd. We both made a comment about what he may have said to ED. We both got some flack from JON which was amusing.

Yes, that was a great moment seeing Jon chatting to Ed, and still amusing to what of could of been said...

yeah Pete, I am sure it was his last gig, they all signed a t-shirt for my birthday, even mb$, not an ozrics t-shirt, just a normal white one.
The end of an era. Fullstop.

Wouldn't it have been awesome if he had jumped on stage unannounced and done the fute (or whatever) climax on erpland at sunrise festival? Imagine the roar of the crowd. That hug with Ed was heart breaking.

None of the links produce a moving picture at my end. Someone sent me this and I thought it might have actually been the Elephant Fayre not Silchester but as I don't have a PC at home I've never seen any of it. I only get a still image from these links. Bu I hear that the other keyboard player was Harvery Bainbridge who (as some will know) used to be in the Sonic Assassins then the reformed Hawklords and then Hawkwind where he played Bass for a while before moving over to keys in June 1984.

I thought so for a second (his afro-like bushy hair is unmistakeable) but I wasn't aware he'd jammed with the Ozrics at all. Thanks Kirk. Have any other 'celebrities' jammed with the band? Kirk try again and if it still doesn't work check if pasting the link at a new tab makes a difference.

Ah its this Pc at work its rubbish. Harvey Jammed with them at The Elephant Fayre 2 month before this gig. I was there for that but not this.. Sadly I have to say. I Absolutely loved the band as portrayed here. A very different beast from the one that exists now. It was the jamming that I loved so much. Sometimes it fell flat on its face and other times it was just sheer magic. Thats the risk you take if do freeform jams. Well worth it I reckon. The Elephant Fayre episode is documented in Carol Clerks book on Hawkwind. although it omits the fact that Stevie Winwood was there and that he complained mightily towards the stage at 4 in the morning when the 2 and a half hour jam began. I recorded the jam but sat too near the stage and the tape is too distorted to listen to.
I'm not aware of other celebs jamming with the band, saw loads of people get up in the 80s from bands like Webcore and the Oroonies and The Magic Mushroom Band though.

f**k me, now check out this footage from 2008, 20 odd years after the previous video. The duo known as Ozric Tentacles! System 7 anyone? I'd be super gutted if I saw that - though I would still sit through it, of course. At least they did Akasha, my favourte Spirals tune.

I was going to say I am not really interested in seeing the current Ozrics lineup (although as I live in England there's no option to see them anyway) but it seems any opinion of a non praising nature leads to someone giving you a hard time. So I won't
Yet oddly enough I'd be more than happy to sit for hour upon hour listening to Ed experiment alone.....or watch Ed and Joie/Ed Merv. Maybe I just think Ed needs more impetus to get him into the improvising zone and out of any comfort zones. And I am merely expressing my opinion there....not claiming to be speaking for others before I am pounced upon.

Nodens live has been superb every time I've seen them, once Ed&Joie and twice Ed, Joie and Merv. I didn't know about 90% of what they played, but, apart from pongmasters 02, I actually enjoyed them more than the Ozrics. I'm not sure I'd enjoy a completely freeform set 80s style though. And just ignore anyone who gives you a hard time for your views, if you express them tactfully. We ALL love the Ozrics otherwise we wouldn't bother coming here at all.
