Wow.. I am getting into Yum Yum Tree, fantastic, I commend Ozrics for keeping their positive, uplifting, otherworldly music alive. Some say they respect that bands change and of course new members and collaborators will come and go but I LOVE the Ozrics sound, that synth, guitar, ethno mix that no-one else has quite done as well as the Ozrics.Triggers so many memories and times and places which just adds to the whole Ozrics enigma.
They are still phenominal !
Yum Yum Tree is HIGHLY recommended. it could have ben recorded 15 years ago, very true to the Ozrics sound IMO.
Peace... and have a great Spring/Summer everyone.

1. Jurassic Shift 2. Erpland 3. Pungent Effulgent
Though Arborescence was a close runner-up. "Kick Muck" and "Dissolution" clinched the Pungent choice.
Of the classic albums, I never got into Strangeitude, though "Sploosh!" is a killer track.
I haven't heard anything after Waterfall Cities, as I found that and Curious Corn lacked the fire of the earlier albums.

Of course i LOVE Nodens Ictus, and am one of the few who have voted for it (As well as Erpland). But does 'Nodens Ictus' have a meaning? Its an anagram of 'Stoned Nusic'..Notice the N should that have been an M and there was a typo at the printers? Nodems Ictus sounds just as good!!!

as regards choosing a favourite album... does it seem only to me that we are being treated to a discrete representation of similar themes here: like, i enjoy spotting evidence to support an assertion that the early tapes were like blueprints, and each new album is one of those being remade with the present technology and personalities... for example (and these are no way definitive, just suggestions...) erpsongs (fast thrashy, upbeat) - Arborescence, Curious Corn, Paper Monkeys tantric obstacles (daytimish and fairly but not overly easygoing) - Pungent Effulgent, Become the Other, TFTFA there is nothing (night-timish ) - Strangeitude, Hidden Step, Spirals in Hyperspace sliding gliding worlds (alien landscapish) - Erpland, Jurassic Shift, Waterfall Cities, YumYum Tree the bits between the bits (more miscellaneous ozric tunes) - Swirly Termination It's entirely possible that I'm reading too far into this, but then reading further than usual into something is exactly the sort of 'mistake' i would expect to find turns out to be rewarding with this band... it makes me want to go searching for patterns in the song titles for some kind of vocabulary of relevant imagery...

I wonder if the results would be any different if this poll was started today that we have Paper Monkeys... It's obviously not a secret that I love it, yet I don't think I would change my vote. Well, maybe I would go for Strangeitude over Underslunky.

I think Spirals in hyperspace is close to being one of my favourites now, it is ticking many, many boxes.

Wow, it was really difficult to choose only 3 albums... I love all of Ozric's albums and I would've wanted to vote for all of them I went with Sliding Gliding Worlds, Jurassic Shift and Waterfall Cities. It's really cool to see what albums people have voted for!

Vote for a favourite Ozric's album? Not easy maan! Each album is the nuts! I saw the guys live at Westcoast Bar, Margate, a few years ago, I was only living 400 yds round the corner from the venue, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the flyer, booked 4 tickets straight away! Favourites 1. Strangeitude (my 1st Ozric's purchase) 2. Pungent Effulgent 3. The Hidden Step But not necessarily in that order! Regards

Sorry, I can't do this. I like too many albums. I just realized that I don't have Oakum and the Nodens ictus spacelines. What's even more amazing is that the more I listen to any album then the more I like it.

Just for the record, I cast a vote for "Paper Monkeys" even though it's not on the ballot.

Hard to do. I vote "Spirals In Hyperspace" 1 and then "Hidden Step" after that then "Waterfall Cities". But honesly all those three are so dear to my heart.

Welcome waterhouse. It's probably not there because it was never made widely available. You could go for the next best thing - Spacelines.

Summer, 1992, I was 16 and it was the first time I'd heard Sunscape. It was also the first time I did acid. Erpland is my fave Ozrics album!

It's funny how the first experience with ozrics highly influences the favorites. Depending on what set of tunes I show people first, usually governs their favorites. I still think being introduced to ozrics by coily is as intense as it can get! Waterfall cities all the way

Gonna have to go with Tantric Obstacles- It was a revalation at the time, 1989...I was in my mid teens and Stu Zander gave me the tape. It led to many paths including playing guitar in Stu's Sisters band "The Thorns" at Glastonbury. Roly Wynne ( Bless ya) was watching, so circles with circles... Strange enough I went on to get into the Spiral Tribe thing.. then Jungle, and over last 6 years ran a few pirate radio stations...only to rediscover the very same tape a few years ago, meet a lovely girl, and now gonna get married...and saw the Ozrics in Poole this year with her.. Sorry about he shaggy dog story as a first post

Had to register to be able to vote. Picked Spirals, Hidden Step, and Strange and realized that Jurassic, Arbo and few others are my favourites too. Tough one... Strangeitude is "the" album for me. Heard it first at my birthday party `93 (smashed of course) when I turned 20 and all I can say that was a turning point in my life. I just couldn´t believe what I was hearing, now at age of 40 I still can´t.

Well, they are all my favorite, but I would pick Strangeitude as it was the one that turned me onto them. Plus it has Saucers and Sploosh. And Live Throbbe, and...

Hi All
Hello to you all and hope you have a good weekend.
There are so many good albums I could not objectively choose a top 3. Also they often have a different flavour that may be more what I enjoy more at a certain time. One thing is for sure - many albums and the Ozrics have been and are world class top musicians and make music of the highest calibre.
Am enjoying "High Pass" from Technicians of the Sacred" right now. Technicians is a truly great album - and sounds like an evolution in their music to me.
Feeling especially grateful to them after receiving the good vibes from their gig at the O2 Islington on Tuesday.
My wife described it as "Pure Joy of Sound".
Must go to at least one more Ozrics gig this Summer.
Ben
