where did you see that?
the band needs to get these dates out to this site, and others too, if they expect anyone to show up for the gigs!!
aside from the info posted here on this thread, i have still seen NOTHING about the quebec city gig, either on pete w's site, ozrics.com, or the tour info on this site...
people will travel hundreds of miles to see the ozrics, i know we will, but they have to hear about it first!!!!!
ed, brandi, mike w.... hope you are listening

I just happend to find it on ticketmaster after following the link on the home page for find tickets thru ticketmaster (karma click anyone?) ... Through the years (given the nature of even the past US tour dates) I have made it a habit just to check on my own periodically and run many web searches and have many times found listings that were true but had no official announcements or press releases... I have always hoped for more advance notice also... I am also wishing that somehow some more dates can get posted here for the current US embarkment... less work 4fans... rsvp vips?

I got this in email. I guess the July 6 date is on. (See Below) I was surfing on the Ozric Tentacles' website and I notice that your show on July 6, during Quebec International Summer Festival, doesn’t appear on your calendar. Is it you who is in charge of keeping the website updated? It would be great to anounce the show!
Best regards, Rachel Dupuis Assistante aux relations de presse Festival d'été international de Québec

A quick note to everyone. Brandi summed it up recently when she posted about the US tour not shaping up. We are quickly coming upon July and there are only a few dates trickling in. I would not be surprised to see the US/NAM tour cancelled. Hopefully we will see more dates coming, but there are UK dates that start showing up around the 21st of July, so it looks like a short window of opportunity here...

Anyone coming to Quebec city, if you would like to meet up before the Gig, or if you are going to be here early during the day, can show you some interesting spots around the city, or even have a BBQ whatever suits you. (I have a nice relaxing Backyard with 40 ft pool, and can crank up some ozrics prior to the gig on friday, (about 10 min drive from the stage) or just hang around town is fun also.I am a Ozrics fan since about 1993. I;m pretty easy going and relaxed, (44 years old now) wow how time flys been with my girlfriend about 18 years, (forgot how long now). have a 15 year old son who will probebly come to the gig, since he was hearing the easy ozrics stuff since birth. My GF has heard it a lot, but will prob only come if the weather cooperates. I'll be there rain or shine. anyone interested cough cough (Sparky) or anyone else that will be here, just send me a PM or email at gdwilson@sympatico.ca. would be a pleasure assisting any Ozrics fans since I dont know of too many up here.

BRgds GW Thanks, mate.... I'm not sure when we'll get there, but we'll probably check in at our hotel and get some dinner before the gig... we know the city fairly well actually as we go up there about once a year regularly... but we will certainly see you at the gig! Look for a fifty-ish guy with grey hair, glasses and a baseball hat, wearing an Ozric T shirt of course, with a pretty blonde gal at his side... we'll be in front of the stage somewhere! Let's hope the rain lets up for this one! cheers...

So, It was a terrific Gig, The three of them put out some excellent sound and was right up front of Ed, what to say but amazing, fiddling around for the layed down tracks, then into the best guitar playing, this side of the solar system. Ollie and Brandi jamming away like theres no tomorrow, Great sound and lighting. Ozrics blasting away right in the heart of the city next to the parliment building, in my town, and then they came and saw us afterwards. So so surreal for me So I was there with my son and also met Sparky and his wife , easy to spot with their OT shirts.. great people. no rain so all was good. They played some of TFTFAway which I never heard yet, I remember hearing and thoughly enjoying these: Pyramidion, Xingu also I think , Domes of G Bal, Eternal Wheel, Sploosh, The Throbbe, and maybe, Astocortex, Oakum, Myriapod, maybe Coily geez I forget the names, I think Sparky got a setlist from Ollie, The park was only halffull, maybe 1500 people, the was another show on Grimskunk and Manu Chao then a pyrotechnic show, which drew a huge crowd, to the misfortune of the Ozrics, also there were quite a few looking for Tshirts but nothing available not even a cd. I would of bought some stuff and some others also, The french newspaper had a so so review, saying the second half of the show was quite good when they were performing on their main instruments, He didnt like the pre-programmed thing, and there a little hickup in the beggining getting the equipment right or somthing. people were hearing some music but they weren't really playing anything yet so it did look kinda wierd. The reviewer was also expecting another band member to be here (Joie) so was already in a bad mood I guess., I myself though they did a hell of a good job ,and the people that were there did really enjoy it. that is a fact. hope they come around Montreal sometime or New England area, because it is worth the trip.

just got home from an excellent Ozrics gig up in Quebec City... it was wonderful to see them, and looking like they were enjoying themselves once again... it was different to see them as a 3-piece (Ed, Brandi, and Oliver) but they were excellent and in top form... Ed asked me after the show "did it work?" and i had to say it most certainly did...
the setlist was... Intro Bolshem Chewier Xingu Coily Pyramidion Synth Jam (excellent new tune!) Eternal Wheel Splat! DisDots Domes of G'Bal Oakum Sploosh! The Throbbe
Those of you who will see them in West Virginia or NYC later this week won't be disappointed!
It was nice to meet you and your son, Gordon! My email addy is an.catdubh@verizon.net by the way... stay in touch. Thanks for telling us about the reviews in the press... my response to people like that is that they obviously don't understand the nature of the Ozrics' music, which could not be performed without programming and sequencing, and that these are art forms as much as playing a guitar, bass, or drums... I remember David Gilmour saying something about the Floyd being criticised for using synths, and him saying the machine still needs a musician behind it for anything to happen...

Thanks for the reviews, sounds like a good setlist. Programming is indeed an art form and I'm not against it per se, but I have to say I really don't like the idea of Ozrics without a bass player! Sorry to sound negative but that's the way I see it... the thing I've enjoyed most about live recordings (never had the chance to see them) is a dynamic rhythm section

dan, brandi actually played real bass on many of the tracks, and had an amazing chemistry going with ollie.... she is a great bass player, i heard her last night with new ears and a new appreciation of her abilities as a musician

Oh, didn't realise there was some bass in there, I just thought it would be all programmed, which I figured would be too restrictive for a drummer jamming in a live context. Makes sense now, cheers :-)

She mentionned that saturday they were going to stay and visit around Quebec city, Ed felt like he was in Europe with all the old buildings, (Maybe they just hung around the city and watched a couple of other performances) then who knows. I remember after the show someone asked them when are you going to visit us and play a gig at the Metropolis, (Montreal) Bandi said they wanted to but somehow it wasnt able to happen.

ha! i may have planted that seed awhile back... i've mentioned before that the Metropolis would be a fabulous venue for them to play... good to hear they're looking into it for the future!
