Considering the location of the event that seems kind of odd...

Those sounds I've mentioned I hadn't heard before happened with all the CDs. If this is the result of having loudnessed the recordings up, then I'm all for it. In my experience this is usually achieved by equalizing: Cutting down frequencies of the sounds which are too loud in the mix and/or raising frequencies of sounds which can barely be heard. "Loudnessing" (compression / peak limiting) will affect all sounds at once when it is applied in the post-production stage. With a full remix it can be applied to the individual sounds, but that would have required original master tapes which I don't think even the Ozrics have. And that is probably for the best because remixing is a tricky business. Even if done right (think Steve Wilson) a remix may not go down well with fans who have come to know and love the original album because the result often sounds totally different.

My box set arrived yesterday and I am listening to it as I write. It is great to finally hear this in the audio quality it deserves. I own the original box as well and although I haven't done a side by side comparison yet the improvement is already evident. opaquelens: Congratulations on a job well done! Hmm, I just noticed my original box has sustained some water damage on the shelf where it has been stored for years. Must be pretty recent because it is still wet. What a strange coincidence. As if it knew its time had come...

My first post here is a Christmas gift (and a shameless plug at the same time ). Have you ever wanted to hear the traditional Xmas tune "O Christmas Tree" in Ozrics style? Probably not, but here it is anyway... ;D This is a recording I made some time ago. No overdubs. Just my guitar plugged directly into the PC with an echo effect, and a little compression added afterwards. O Christmas TreeHave fun!

I preferred the original Nazerman releases that were floating around on Kazaa many years ago. Even though they were lower 128kbps quality they sounded better. It is a shame that the material on this release has been tampered with. The increase of high frequencies is fine, but what irritates me is that the person who compiled these CDs added a cheap echo effect to nearly every track. This is quite evident when compared to the original rips. The added echo messes up the definition of the individual instruments, especially the bass. And what is even worse is that it is out of sync with the native echo effects in many of the tracks. Still, it is great to finally hear the tunes that I missed back in the day. Wouldn't be great if the Ozrics officially released these gems with professional mastering? Well, one can always dream...
