Oh my lord this is a gold mine. Over 6 hours and 5 cds worth of Ozric tracks I've never heard. Where did these tracks come from? I have not heard all of it, but mostly sounds like they were from their pretape/tape recording sessions. lost-in-tyme.blogspot.com/2006_12_03_archive.html

here's what Dale J had to say about these 5 CDs....
"The tapes were all given to me by joie 3 or 4 years after they were made, it was safer storage that way' it was reported that he couldn't look after tapes that well
That puts them in the frame of 1984-1987, they were home recordings on a small multitrack recorder, i believe at ed's place when he lived in wimbledon, and at joie's who was also living in london at the time with members of the oroonies ie tanya & dave.
I guess they were made because things were fresh those days and lots of ideas coming out, and as they were about each other more they recorded them, if i remeber originaly there were 13pts (tape sides) a couple of years back i done the remaining as jam sessions & reherseals' 2 cds in all."
so there, you know as much as anyone does about them now! sparky

Its an interesting lot. When I got a hold of these way back when, I was told a similar story of their origin. Im not sure that the titles were on the originals though. Can anyone confirm if the originals were titled ?

when asked if he (nazerman) had bestowed the titles on these 78 tracks, he said "yup"

when asked if he (nazerman) had bestowed the titles on these 78 tracks, he said "yup" Thanks for verifying Sparky. At one time when the erpnotes guys were doing the erpilation CD's , there was a nugget from this old collection that I was considering remaking. I told Ed about it and he thought it was a cool idea. I had to sound out the way the tune went for him and he was able to figure out which one it was. Even told me the time sig. LoL

hehe... up in quebec, someone was asking ed about a track on curious corn, and if they ever played it live... the guy sounded out the tune, and then ed joined in... i said 'that's afroclonk" and ed said "yeah, that's it"
i get the feeling titles are slightly superfluous in ed's world....

i use dBPowerAmp for all kinds of file conversion, works like a charm every time....
Nazerman also added this further info about the 78 tracks....
"i should add the mp3's of those tapes had a couple of internet releases one lot on Napsters way back, and were made at 128kb, I then remade them at a higher bitrate some years later, you may find them on the internet if you look hard enough "worth it at they sound much better". Due to audio recording getting better i will redo them all again sometime in the future, and set them free on the internet at 320kb probably through some release group or other, if not i reckon they will go out through emule."
we keep getting more tidbits about this collection from the old boy!!

I preferred the original Nazerman releases that were floating around on Kazaa many years ago. Even though they were lower 128kbps quality they sounded better. It is a shame that the material on this release has been tampered with. The increase of high frequencies is fine, but what irritates me is that the person who compiled these CDs added a cheap echo effect to nearly every track. This is quite evident when compared to the original rips. The added echo messes up the definition of the individual instruments, especially the bass. And what is even worse is that it is out of sync with the native echo effects in many of the tracks. Still, it is great to finally hear the tunes that I missed back in the day. Wouldn't be great if the Ozrics officially released these gems with professional mastering? Well, one can always dream...

To be honest guys I think naming the tracks is a tad cheesey and without wishing to sound rude I think it's cringy. Im sure my cohorts feel the same and if mr archivist would care to p2p them with dates rather than unbefitting titles then cool Im sure we would all be happy. Dont you think it's down to Ed himself to name them? Really gets my goat this so I'll be off before I upset someone.

Bollocks. When anyone tries to be Ozricy its just shameful and squirmy in my opinion. When was he in the band? what right has he to title Ed's music? Then put it out on the internet without an explanation. f**k**g cheek if you ask me. This pisses me off no end. I think I may swerve this place now as I will probably piss a fan or two off.

;D hey chill out bassman ;D i thought ozric music was all about peace, love and hippyness! not copyrights , money and contracts i like acid mothers temple approach to music, "it belongs to everyone" ok perhaps this isn't practicable in the real world, but in the 78 tracks case, they were unreleased, and Dale was doing a good service in releasing to the fans so they could hear them and so he named them too, for reference and fun (remember that!) I like the names, they are suitable, when ed gets round to releasing them properly, he himself can name them, and we shall buy the cd('s) But i see no reason for knocking someone who obviously loves the music Chill out yes!? There are bigger things to worry about in this world methinks

did I mention copyrights money or contracts? And no, I still totally disagree with the naming of someone elses music without their consent, for fun or otherwise. People are reading these and theres no mention that Ed has absolutely nothing to do with the titles for his music.
Oh and can Ed take peace, love and hippyness to the bank manager and ask him to pay the rent, the gas, the lecky, the phone, the council tax, food, yer know exisitence in general, extortionate work visas need I carry on?
Im chilled mate thanks, things are cool in my world. I have my health, my family and loved ones. I'm in the coolest band on the planet. I love eastern mysticism and rainbows, surrealism and magic mushrooms, skunk joints by the bucket load, synthesizers and bass guitars but anyone who knows me knows Im anything but a fookin' hippy!!

agree with everything you say mate, i don't like hippies either , well the ones that scam and skank people Ed should of course get all credit for his music, including financial reward, otherwise musicians would stop doing what they do I don't think it's shameful and squirmy, i can think of things that are, but not naming some tracks by some hippies peace and the rest of it

hey vinny. tottally concur with you geez. i love skunk joints by the bucketload and magic mushrooms are there for the taking-fill ya boots!!!!!!. on the subject of these tracks-is it a problem for the band these being psp without any royalties etc being dished out?. i aint got no problem taking them off soulseek if thats what the band wants. aint kissing ass v but i write music myself and i can honestly say that i,d feel dirty if i heard my music being touted about and with titles i hadnt come up with. i,m sure that geezers heart was in the right place but maybe the brain wasnt eh? ?. anyway put that joint down and start telling us when your going back on the road and are there plans for an album?. did you manage to pull the spartan 24pack brown boot polish look?lol. keep telling it like it is mate. meds.
