I've finished a new album of down-tempo/ambient material called 'The Universe is Music'. It's now available to download for free here www.nicktoone.com/_sgg/m2_1.htmThink of a mixture of Orb & '90's FAX records etc and you're probably not far off. Enjoy!

I'm glad to see this thread, it is an appropriate time to post a link to a particular track I did in 2003. I've loved the Ozric Tentacles and Nodens Ictus for a long time, they are a big influence on my music. My name is Will Brazier-Smith, and my electronic music project is called Xurba. Here is the track which has the heaviest Ozric Tentacles influences in: www.xurba.co.uk/mp3/016-Darshini.mp3I have done some other tracks which are obvious in their Ozric influence, if you like the one above, I can post some more!

Hello ! Please (if you have the time) take a listen to the various offerings I have on my Soundcloud page. The Ozrics are a major influence on my work (check out Eggshells and Typo) and I would love to hear any comments / criticisms. I hope you enjoy! Thanks Paulo soundcloud.com/paulo-paulo

Mr. Will Brazier-Smith from the electronic project Xurba, this is definitely a track of excellence... I humbly thank you for your acknowledgement! I'll post some more when I get time between my awful non-musical jobs (which I'm doing so I can get the time and space to make some more music in the future..) Kind words like this make me want to continue with my project. I hope to find time to check out the many other offerings from fellow musicians on this thread too.

Hey Adrian Mindtraveller your tunes are amazing, so much work put into them. I've heard signed artists that are not as good as you - you ought to get some of your music released. Be sure to keep us informed here if you put out any EPs or albums. Oh and Dan Etherealise, some people here are waiting impatiently for your new album, is it ready yet?

Wow, thankyou ;D. It is all finished but there's been a delay with getting the master back, very frustrating as it's been months now but I just have to wait. Should be the next week or two though...

Thx for the listening, I really appreciate it. @ synthswirl and yiannis: I haven't got any cd's but I thought about making a compilation of a few tracks of mine named "strangeness & charm" (these are in fact names for properties of particles in quantum physics :-) ). maybe I could make them downloadable. I'll let you know.
@ etherealise: Wow, your music is amazing! Also looking forward to your new stuff

Hi Synthswirl, thanks for the comments. My main synth is still the Roland JP-8000 and I use that for most analog type synth sounds (bass, pads, sequenced arpeggios, leads & fx), though I now use a Moog Little Phatty for all solos (got this since the last album). I also use a Rhodes MKII electric piano and Solina String Ensemble, both vintage keyboards. I do use plugins (NI electric piano, B4 organ, Gmedia MTron, too many synths to mention) but usually I prefer hands on real synths with lots of controls where you can edit sounds more easily like the JP-8000. You can probably pick one of these up fairly cheaply as they're quite old now, but you should be able to get a similar wide range of analog type sounds from the Supernova- the filter section is probably the most key to getting spacey sounds IMO.

My main synth is still the Roland JP-8000 and I use that for most analog type synth sounds (bass, pads, sequenced arpeggios, leads & fx) Nice, Always been a bit of a 'Roland' man. I did have a sh101 and a juno 60 but sold them years ago when I wasn't using them much. DOH! I did buy a new Roland Juno 'stage' the other day for £770 but had to send it back due to a weird fault with the headphone out, decided to get a Clavia Nord insted I also use a Rhodes MKII electric piano and Solina String Ensemble, both vintage keyboards. Now You're talking my language My thing is making etherial , Ozricy music with sounds that are as raw and 'warm' as possible, I find one can get a multitude of universes from just Pianos, Rhodes , organs, clavi and a few effects. Think of the haunting grand piano through a 'rotary' effect at the start of Pink Floyd's 'Meddle' or Joe Zawinul's 'watercolour' hammond organ playing on Miles's 'In a silent way' I Love the Rhodes stuff you did on that 'Erpitaph' CD I got a Nord Stage that does (to my ears) the best (sampled) Rhodes Simulation on the market, way better than the Roland 'electric piano' sounds on thier £2000 synths. The Nords are NOT cheap but they are totally 'authentic' sounding, and they also feature a B3 Hammond organ, no drawbars but a decent enough 'l.e.d.' display for each drawbar. The Acoustic upright and grand pianos are beautiful (and many top-notch 'stage pianos' and synths are stingy with 'upright' pianos and assume everyone want's to be elton john and only play 'Grands pianos'). It has a totally accurate 'Wurlitzer' sound and the 'Clavi' is spot on. There is a small synth section too but I got enough synthesis power with the Nord 'Wave'. I had to get that when I saw they had done a deal with 'Mellotron' and got the original master tapes for all those classic 'proggy' mellotron sounds, the epic 'choir' and string sounds used on so many king crimson, yes and genesis tunes , even the 'flute' on stairway to heaven. And don't forget how John Medeski has been abusing his Mellotron recently to stunning effect. I just HAD to get one. Now they have brought out the 'Electro 3' which has the sounds of the 'nord stage' piano AND it will play the mellotron sounds and any of the 'sample' sounds which are downloadable for free from thier website, Loads of synth samples and 'patches' that are synthesised by fans and enthusiasts, yes they even have some 'Solina' string sounds they are recording new 'horns ' right now' and even they sound good , certainly usable to write with, and most synth horns are just GHASTLY. I tried s few on the new Juno, awful, thin, plasticy garbage. I cannot believe that Roland are even putting such sounds on a new synth in 2011. shocking. Just SHOCKING. Anyway, back to the nords, I want to get a 'electro 3' for live stuff as the 88key stage piano is SO heavy and hitting those fully weighted keys for 90 minutes is a killer, especially on a Reggae gig. The weighted keys are great for writing though , and it lets one run a second keyboard via MIDI to play a 'bank b' so I can have a Piano or rhodes on bottom and a organ on the midi keyboard , or a clav. For 'noodlers' and 'widdlers' the pitch bend on the nords it second to none, In typical Clavia style it is Wooden! and on a spring to quick you can actually hear it 'boing', great for minute little flicks to transform an oboe sample into a 'arabic' horn. The modulation wheel is made of stone! I Love my nords so much I even plan to modify my main Nord , removing a few of the bottom keys so I can actually have sex with it.

Hey everyone! I was recently introduced to the Ozrics and I can't get enough. A couple days ago I decided to record an instrumental song which was inspired by the Ozrics, so hopefully you'll hear some influences in it. The last half is sort of "Pink Floyd-esque", so I feel there's a pretty cool mixture.

I rather enjoyed "Cosmic Euphony" as a first attempt at a youtube video. No doubt you have good all-around talent to do this sort of thing. For instance, the shot of the "Dawn Patrol" bass line was like a reverse Dweezil thing, and quite unique in that respect. It's just a shame that it stopped there and didn't proceed into "Polaris"....
The only complaints I have are that there are some places where the synchronization is a little off, and moreover, it takes an awful long time for the song to develop, and it never really reaches that plateau that one might expect it to. No doubt, there is a lot of influence from the middle part of "Echoes", but it fails to achieve that type of intensity anywhere. For what it is, however, it's a great start to what one can only hope to be the first of many such forays into music and video production.

Hey, I've got a new spacy, experimental improvisation on myspace.com/adrianherzog It's called Space Odd Yssee Improvisation It's just an impro so its not really sophisticated and the sound is sometimes really aggressive, but it sounds quite psychedelic, spacy and disturbing to me :-P
