... and I quote- "... I was fortunate enough to play drums in the ozric's in 2007, and one of my lifes ambitions will be fulfilled later this year (2008) when I will appear on the new studio album, playing darbuka. "-Dominozric. Nice -Rob.

Can't wait for the new album, is it gonna have Blim sleeve artwork, what's the general ambience of the album gonna be, is it gonna carry on in a similar vein as the last two albums or are they gonna go a bit retro and harp back to the sound of their earlier stuff and also how many tunes are gonna be on it...all questions that weighing heavily on me that i urgently need answers to.
Some of you guy's that are in the know, out of what you've heard or played on, what are we in for roughly, what passed album is this new one maybe beginning to sound a bit like.

Hello folks. Don't get much of a chance to write to the forum these days what with no computer at home, but do regularly view comments from my work PC....who am I? Just someone who used to regularly put me tuppence h'appenny's worth in once in awhile, no connections, just a long time admirer in a healthy obsessive as opposed to unhealthy obsessive sort of way. I'm warbling, I'll try to get to the point... Just wanted to express my enthusiasm/anticipation/impatience for the new Ozrics album. So much to look forward to: If it's another mainly Ed solo effort, lets hope it continues to jingle the neurals like what Spirals or TFTFA did. Ping and Slinky are wonderful additions to 25 odd years of outstanding creativity. A hippy Grammy award - The Bong perhaps? Blooming marvellous.... If Merv makes a major contribution will he be pounding the skins or will he be let loose on some Static style mayhem? "Let them chew static"? More Psychic chasms and abductions in the nude...I'm feeling a bit pervy... And what about the others? Will Vinny be appearing? Can't wait to see this latest in a long line of bass players. I must have missed four or five...last gig featured Pazza...(what ever happened to Pazza?)... I gather Vinny is another returnee and has a more expansive stage presence than say, Zia who used to tuck in the corner behind the keys. But then, there was a tall bloke jumping round the stage in those days... Brandi. Should we expect the new Ozrics to be more of a Steve n Miquette type arrangement in the studio? And how separate will stage and studio performance be? I quite like stage to be 95% live. I don't mind the odd sequence such as the beginning of Eternal Wheel or Spyroid but the prerecorded mid section of Jurassic Shift (although a great piece of music) doesn't do it for me live. But that's the thing about performance, Eat Static are primarily a prerecorded band/duo/solo act. It's a great show so why the hangups about live performance? I've still got to sort it out in my own head before debating here. But just watch Ed and Schoo on The Throbbe (Pongmasters DVD), now that for me is total all out head banging danceable live performance. And when Seaweed screeches those frequencies, the look on Jon's face says it all - SURPRISE!?!? God, I've watched that DVD too often, I need to get outdoors... Will there be more Hillagey type guests? Will Joie make a studio appearance. I know he's finished gigging but surely he's not finishing with music completely? The odd studio appearance can't be ruled out can it? So basically, a lot of questions and possibilities. The Ozrics to me are two separate entities, studio and stage. Studio Ozrics have been great from day one. Erpsongs although a rough and ready tape, not for mass production, has got some real gems on it. Tidal Otherness is a stunning piece of Tim Blakean beauty (whose highlight is still New Jerusalem which I saw performed at a Hawkwind gig in the 70s). Stage Ozrics are an uncertain affair. But that's good isn't it? I for one, am looking forward to seeing the new (old?) line-up, I hope I do before it changes again. But that's how things are. Life isn't static it's ever changing. Long may Ozrics continue. Would 40 more years be too much to ask? Sorry 'bout the length of this message, just had to get it off mi chest. I'll return with more typed twaddle in 3-4 months...thanks for reading. Love n stuff, the hooverer x

I for one am hoping for more of a traditional Ozric vibe, being that it's probably the first time since Hidden Step, that an Ozric album has been approached by an established steady set up that must be pretty tight by now and bouncing ideas off of each other from the get go, unlike the last two as Hooverer quoted, are more solo'ish efforts with people brought in on the odd track here and there to add that extra bit of something with the exception of maybe Brandi on TFTFA. Mind you, they're still two bloody good albums though, that i argue are better than anything else that was released in those corresponding years.
I don't think its going backwards to sound more like some of your older stuff, it's just with Ed having to steer the last two albums and all the emphasis being on him, they did sound more electronic with the odd solo here and there, but with a band, its a group thing and so I'm hoping that we might hear something that sounds more groupish than soloish. Anyway, whatever the guy's come up with, with this album, its gonna be up there and probably a lot better than some of these albums that are gonna sell multi millions this year by some of these over hyped bland rock bands.

i know - it is difficult to explain what the experience above meant/continues to mean to me. literally a dream coming true! (well, actually as much as i love ayurvedic the dream was in fact jurassic shift)! and playing in istanbul was amazing, one of the single happiest days in my life! domes sounded great that day, and the dub jam in pyramidion was very bouncy!
