Good question! Music is a very very powerful inciter of emotions. Aside from smell, its the most vivid memory jogger. Its an international unspoken language that can unite people. A pair soldiers on opposing sides who normally would kill each other, be it for turf or religion, can easily love and dance to the same tune. There are thousands and thousands of journies and stories and moods and emotions waiting to be discovered if you play, individually or in a number of combinations, the 12 notes in an octave. It's hard to say what I love the 'most' about it, it's just all wonderous. Period. Granted, there are combinations of these notes put together with rhythms (and more than likely with drivel for lyrics) That I cant abide but can still appreciate any talent. I suppose the what I love the 'most' about it really is EVERYONE can have a go. In that vast chasm of difference between a lad in a bedroom developing blisters to Mozart, from 'Eye level' on the recorder to the Coily bassline. In there is a universe of fun!! Then theres the drug side! What music sounds like on different drugs. That's a whole nuzzer dimension!! Even though, (Ahem) I dont do em... (envisage me doing the pinnochio nose stretch hand gesture oooooooooop!) lol

Not sure if this question is answerable... but do you think Merv will be drumming on the next Ozrics album?
Cheers.

Thanks vinny (spacedandamzed ),
i agree "loving" "dancing" and "apreciating talent" are all great things to find in music . Here's another question for you ... "When playing music in a group do you find it emotionally challenging ? , if so what methods/practises do you use to help support a feeling of harmony?"
Fire away! ;D Yo Space Commando, if I rush behind the stage and pulled your plug off your amp could you still keep in tune using your vocals? As in, dum…dum dum dum…..dum.. dumdumdum during the coily track……without getting us wet If you can, then I will be spaceandamazed or in a daze after you kick my butt for pulling the plug... ;D Peace and Keep Zee Faith
one dy i hope to catch it on video, but they way that ed and vinny 'sing' the music accapella style is apparently the way of learning ozrics tracks!!!

so how come the band are doing some gigs and there not on the site?. vex,s me big time. i would say with this and ozrics.com being the official sites both mike and ozric.com webmaster are governed by only putting up officially confirmed gigs... sally @ fruit pie is probably waiting for more confirmed dates before letting people know about them... she is generally pretty good at letting both mike and myself know about gigs. the gig guide is not governed by such officialdom (though the site is officially endorsed) and as such i can put up dates that are rumours etc... if the gig falls through, then i have a disclaimer on my front page... It is always worth checking the gig guide periodically and in time all gigs should appear either here or ozrics.com

Emotionally 'charging' maybe but not challenging. I enjoy performing on stage immensely and playing the best music on the planet, (imho) just adds more bliss to the whole thing!

Speaking of which, I was privileged last summer at the solfest where I met Steve Hillage for the first time. He gave me an acapella rendition of the dervish riff!
arent Festivals great? ;D

The reason I asked is this is something which i have ben learning about myself , when i was a teenager i played in a band and i remember leaving a rehersal in tears i couldn't "get the part right" i tried my best to learn from that experience and i have met many musicians and people since . One piece of advice i seem to use again and again is "there is the music you wnat to play ,and the music you are ment to play and they are not always they same thing ,the is a skill to letting go to the moment ." i feel we could learn a lot about life from listening to harmony in music . this leads to another question . Being in tune/harmony with one another with our self ! , what does it mean to you ? p.s in regards to the dervish riff , 4/4 tar, tar, tar, tar-tay tar tar . 3/4 tar tay tar tar tet-tay . 5/8 tar-tay-tet-tay tar tar. 5/4 tar tar-tay tah tah . ok let me do some maths here ! 4+3 = 7 + 5 = 12 12 * 2 = 24 + 5 = 29/8 which could be drummed as 4 bars of 6/8 and one bar of 5/8 yah to maths !!

Sorry, dont quite understand the question mate. Have you missed a word out or something? I see what you mean about emotionally challenging now. I thought you meant playing on stage in particular. Ive left rehearsals before in states of frustration, not cos I couldnt get to grips with something, cos someone else couldnt!! In Grooveweird we had a serious 'drummer' problem. We couldnt find one good enough for ages. In theyd come, out theyd go...
what dya call a bloke who hangs around with musicians? a drummer
How dya know the stage is level? the drummer drools out of both sides of his mouth
a bloke walks into a shop and says "can I have a fender telcast, a vex u.c 60, and some plucks please? The assistant says "ha, youre a drummer arent you?" shocked the guy says "yeah, how can you tell?" "This is a chemist" replies the asssistant
nah, love em really. As long as the bass player and the drummer knit together well and can anticipate each other its great, and in that fraction of a second in a jam, you both decide to do the same fill and you cant get any tighter, that's magical.

that answers the question . heres another idea ....
there is this drumming called linear drumming , the idea is you only play one drum at one time .
but what about overdubbing bass guitar parts ?, so you have riff up on the 12th and 14th fret of string g and that imitates the high hat , your bass and snare drum could be open e and a on the 7th fret.

I was wondering, are you guys going to come to Canada at all like Toronto because I've heard the music and seen your live perfomances on you tube and all I can say is wow. I really want to see you guys live, same with a lot of other people I know but if you can't make it to Toronto even Buffalo New York would be nice. Your music is amazing.
