This might be a bit vague but I'd really appreciate your help as this having been bugging me for knocking on 15 years now. I used to go to the Ritz & Star in Manchester round 92-93 & nearly every night they'd play an Ozrics song the title of which I have no idea. All I can remember through the dim passages of time is it had the sound of bubbling water & used to fill the dancefloor without fail every time.
I'm 90% sure it was the Ozrics & apologise in advance if it turns out to be Eat Static though I doubt it cos the bassline was out of this world. Many thanks in advance if you know what this song is called. You'll be making an old indie kid very happy!

Sploosh! From the c.d 'Strangeitude' - also released as a single and used I believe in a B.M.W. ad.

That's brilliant, thanks so much for your help. Meds, youve got my interest there. If I'm looking to get into a bit more Ozrics where should I start? The size of their back cat is a bit daunting!

it,s a bit daunting to know where to start as well. if you want the trach "sploosh"-then it,s on the album "strangitude". it,s always used as an encore at gigs.(they must be so sick of playing it by now.lol).
i suppose everyone has there favourites for one reason or another. damien has mentioned "the hidden step"-(good choice). i,d recommend you by "eternal wheel"-thats a double album with a mixture of ozrics ranging fro 1990 to 2002.it,s the buisness!!!!.check out "vibuthi".
oh and dont forget to get proper mashed as well cj

You have to have them all. The Ozric Tentacles are the only band in the World who have never made a bad or mediocre album - everyone is a rare gem and unique!!

thanks ozhead, i igree too. with simple and few words you reach the point. i listen to all kinds of good music, from Mahavishnu to Terje Rypdal, progressive to jazz rock, had a good CD and LP collection, and i know that ozrics are from another world. unique ! when i bought the 6 cd's box set ( 94 ) put all on the shuffle mode then discovered the fire. from that time i know what you mean. when you hear songs more than a few years, and in some cases a decade you can call it a gem. erpland, pungent, the first bars on white rhino tea on strangeitude, the pan effects on sunhair, the amazing bass lines ( that we will never ever hear again, sorry ), coliy,... And the unreleased material space travellers dream, parrot stomp, always, the great moon snail, cyclops passing, thug truck, and many many more. ozhead, see how you reach the point with few words, when we start to talk about the band we go far. when anybody will wright a book? sorry my english.

The book would be simply titled 'The Ozric Tentacles'. On the cover, a psychedelic hologram, into which you look and be drawn into infinite space. When you open the cover, sounds will emerge and the first track of their entire recorded catalogue will start to play. There is need for only one page and on it written in ancient script - "The Best Band in the World". No more words, the music speaks and every emotion will be experienced. You will see the colours of the universe, and wonderful hues 'Beyond the Spectrum'. Your brain will release natural chemicals that give you a high the like of which you have never experienced. No need for a 'Spiritual Leader' or 'Enlightened Master', no need for words , you have The Ozric Tentacles, you are at one with the universe.

So in this space Odyssey of an Ozric book where your mind is totally freed to all the colours of the universe and love and light is everywhere and all will become one, where will ya put the index page. . Seriously, your posting is spot on Ozhead, having every album is a major requirement, not having the full back catalogue is like having a rainbow with some of its colours missing. Its so easy just to have the odd album here and there when it comes to other bands, but with the Ozrics, if you treated them in similar vein, think of some of the extremely hidden gems that would be missed out on...Health Music for example.
