"Yog-Bar-Oing" (Yog-Bar-Og + original Pyoing ending!)

Hey ho,

Twirlyburd here from the old red Ozrics board way back in the late 90's! I haven't been registered on here in years but some names I remember from back then are Mike Werning, Rich Montgomery, Dale (Nazerman), and of course Peter Wibrew! I remember sitting down to try to listen to the Spice Doubt session as it was being live-streamed, but on a dial-up modem and not understanding why it wouldn't work!  Anyway, I've been digging thru my old collection of Ozric gigs and stuff that I accumulated back then, and I've decided I'd like to offer something back to the community.

I remember reading on the liner notes of "Swirly Termination" that Pyoing was the original ending of Yog-Bar-Og, but it was abandoned as it was too crazy. So years ago I stitched the two together for my own enjoyment; I chopped off the last 2.5 mins of Yog and worked Pyoing in at that point (with a little bit of time-stretching to line it up better). Anyway, I've been listening to it like this for years and I gotta say it's prob my fav Ozric tune!    Whole thing is now 11:33.

I was just wondering if anyone from the band or label objects if I upload it (as either an mp3 to my OneDrive, or maybe even to YouTube?) Reason I ask is I know Swirly wasn't promoted in any way, and I don't know if there are any residual problems there. Second reason is I feel an official "Yog-Bar-Oing" (Ed Wynne mix) would make for a massive bonus track somewhere someday and I don't know if there are any other box-sets in the pipeline. 

If anyone can pass this message on to those in the know, I'd be very much obliged!


P.S. First saw Ozrics first in 1998 in London (as they were playing Dublin on my then-girlfriend's birthday and she wouldn't let me go! Had to travel overnight by boat and coach to get to London, AND had to leave before the end of the gig to get a late tube! ) Finally got to see them a second time in Manchester last year (only 24 years difference!)

I don't think there would be a problem with you uploading that antwhere, especially Youtube. I mean there are so many ozrics videos on YT, what difference would one more make? Also, there was once a mush-up video of Magick Valley with the Black Eyed Peas' Boom Boom Pow there, which I don't think was licenced from either band.

The London '98 gig at the Astoria II was my first Ozrics gig too btw

Cheers for that. I'll see if I can upload it to youtube over the next few days, and then I'll post the link here. Honestly, I much prefer this ending! I'm shocked the band never stuck with it. Hope y'all like it

Interesting. I can vaguely hear the synth fadeout at the beginning of Pyoing, so I think it was originally both tracks in full. This ending/transition makes it very different, as the YBO ending is very spaced out and Pyoing is mad instead. Cool work with mashup of the artwork too.

Yes, agreed; I heard that too. Although the craziest part for me is that I only worked that out about a week ago! 😂 I first did this this "oing" mix about 20 years years ago, not long after reading those liner notes. But I misinterpreted it back then, thinking it was saying pyoing was the original ending, and the mellow ending of yog was recorded AFTER that.

It was only after posting my initial question here that I decided to do a tidier join and re-did it again. That was when it hit me that yes pyoing was originally added on to the END of full yog.

So my initial question is kinda irrelevant now; I thought I was splicing together the original track, when in fact what I've done is really more of a fan-remix. (Had to do a little bit of time-stretching on the join to get the background noises line up on the beat.)

And yea I did think of re-creating the full yog plus pyoing, but at least I agree with Ozrics that it doesn't work! 😂

Artwork mashup turned out better than expected tbh and only did that that few days ago. Two different styles and artists of course so hard to get them to work together. Was hoping to do something more like the arborescence / become the other dual reissue at first but couldn't make it work.

Fun little project though and glad it's finally out there anyway! Thanks for listening. 😊
