Just thought I'd through this one out there: I'm looking for a new Jem for Ed, he's pretty picky. He doesn't want one exactly the same as his old one, (there is one on ebay at the moment). He doesn't want one with flowers, he doesn't like pink, or yellow, or white (all the new ones seem to be white) he prefers the edge tremolos... I'd welcome any suggestions...

Yeah, I've looked at that site a few times, they go quick up there. most of posts have already sold, and it just seems like you're looking at guitars you may have been able to buy three months ago... I'll keep an eye on it but... Definitely can't have anything mirrored with our light show Not up for a 7 string Picking a guitar for Ed, ...impossible. Mind you, if the right late 80's swirl style with pyramids in the neck came along I know he go for it... ;D

I've said it loads of times, but when I look on the Ibanez site I've never heard of most of the endorsees. I know you shouldn't have to ask them, but has Ed ever considered getting in touch with Ibanez? He's probably inspired more than a few people to try or buy their guitars so the least they can do is maybe sort him out a custom finish Jem. A Blimmed up version.

Let colour-based misery be a thing of the past when choosing a new guit... but, do you guys think you have steady enough hands to carry this off?

Hi,
I don't know if time or money are an issue but have you considered getting a luthier to build you the ULTIMATE Jemmish ? There are some amazing luthiers in the uk (Duncan Wales for 1) and without a doubt in the US. Then Ed can design EXACTLY what is needed.
Just a thought :-)

(the "Blimmed up" strat at 4.20) I've said it loads of times, but when I look on the Ibanez site I've never heard of most of the endorsees. I agree that Ed has probably influenced more than a few sales for Ibanez over the years I know you shouldn't have to ask them, but has Ed ever considered getting in touch with Ibanez? I can understand why bands are reluctant to go 'cap in hand' to instrument makers , even when they do loyally promote one company for 25 year. When I was in a ska/reggae band we phoned up Trace Elliot who were based about 20 miles away and asked if they wanted us to promote them. We didnt get any free gear but they would sell us gear at "trade price" which was roughly HALF price on 90 days credit. And if we had a gig in a decent size venue they would loan us backline gear, guitar and keyboard amps and cabs

Not seen that video before, good stuff. The strat is cool. I suspect there are very few endorsees that are approached by companies, and more likely it's a case of a musician asking for somethg custom and the company deciding to do something with them. As you said, Christian, trade price is not to be scoffed at. I know a few guitarists who do promotion for companies and larger shops and get lots of gear loans and trade prices. Still, it'd be nice to see Ed in an Ibanez catalogue.

Ed being one of the absolute best guitarists on the face of this planet would be doing them a favour. 30 years of Ozrics he more than deserves it !

...and yesterday I asked Ibanez to do exactly that. Why is there not an Ed Wynne Jem?
They replied today that they were passing it on to those that make the decisions.

I dropped them a line on FB, ultimately they make a decision but we know Ed lays it down proper like no other whatever they decide. Oh and if they be in doubt, they need to check this video from 06:49 If I operated a guitar company, I would be biting his arm off to have an endorsement.

Emailed them a few years ago and got the same reply. Maybe one of us needs to write a thesis, studying the correlation between brand visibility and probability of purchase influence on a fan base. Then present it to Ibanez and Marshall. Mandala cabs anyone#

Brand visibility and reliance on quality guitars of one of the best guitarists in the world has got to have a very positive and influencial impact. A thesis sounds great but it should not be needed for a trading company to see the obvious merit. If they sold as few as 2-3 guitars it would be worth it. Even if there was not an Ed Wynne Jem, the fact he would be playing their guitars still would still bring great publicity.
He could find some other guitar as good if he was to sit down and play a few, it would be a good call for Ibanez to act now and retain the existing benefits onwards into the future IMO.

You guys are awesome! Well, if you've found the door to knock on at Ibanez (i was honestly going to look for the door myself, but I'm going a little crazy trying to get us together for tour. Feel free to let them know we are ideally after a blue and purple NECK-THROUGH jem style with a middle eq boost switch ... ;D ... And if you only new how right you are, yesterday I took Eddie to a music shop and it might not be perfect but for the meantime, We bought him a neck through PRS with a Floyd Rose! It stays in tune so well it's actually shocking! Would like to stick with Ibanez (at our last Mexico City show, for two free Ozric tickets they asked on the radio "what kind of guitars does Ed play?),... But the harder you pull on a jem more likely it is to break, this PRS seems like it can take anything...

I have a £179.00 Floyd licence trem here and I have not had to tune it for 6 months, I don't play every day but that seems to make no difference once it is in. So that does not surprise me. A bit of a faff (for me as a novice anyway) to get in tune in the first place place but once in and locked good as gold. Might be a plan to put an email contact on this thread in case they want to get in contact.

Ed with a PRS... ? Interesting! If the right Jem is the thing, I'm sure the right one will turn up with a bit of patience. To be honest I immediately thought of the 7PBK. A bit like Eds other, but the green bits are white and it has pyramids instead of the vine; ibanez87.it/english/gallery/models/jem/jem-pbk-fabio.htmlThey do turn up occasionally, as do the swirls.

Hi Brandi, of course these are dead expensive, but so Ozricy somehow JEM 20th Anniversary model, lights up 'n'all. JEM20TH. by day and at night There is a JEM for every taste, but make sure it is japanese built. I do not know of a neck through though. There are some tasty RG's available too, also here, as with any Ibby, stick to japanese. There is an Artist available with an Edge, vintage though, you would have to search a bit, they usually come in polar white, but there is also a marine sunburst, this has a set neck and is a beautiful guitar. AR350MS (AR350PW for Polar White, which will have turned to a nice yellowy ivory by now as these models were built mid to late 80ies). If Ed should be keen on one, please check that it has an Edge and not the Ibanez Pro Rocker, only the later ones have Edge's, the Pro Rocker is not nearly as good. good luck. oh, and WHAT He doesn't like the pink JEM

I have an Ibanez RGT 22oA that I could be persuaded to part with. This guitar has the same spec as the RGT320Q that Philly posted. The difference is that my guitar is made from Solid Ash (a wood that ED likes as ghis artist is made from it) my guitar has a natural wood finish, no paintwork. It is a very heavy guitar and it sustains forever unplugged.
