I have just discovered them. It seems I missed this band I suppose I got into Ozrics around 1991 after hearing a cd playing ina record shop in Camden, London.
Anyone got a brief history and relationship to Ozrcis as they band progressed.
Highly appreciated.
Getting pretty sentimental tonight after hearing them. Listening to "Share a clam with the ullulators' cassette.
cheers

Agreed.. A very cool band. Lots of great stuff on these old tape releases.. The only official LP was good but not as good as the early tapes..

I hope when the CDs come out they'll be available via other sources besides facebook as I don't have an account and I don't intend to create one just for that.

hehe, saw this thread and got excited, I'm eagerly waiting the remasters coming out - info here : ozrics.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1376My personal favourite is the first tape 'Beyond The Gates' closely followed by 'Share A Clam'.... little snippets in time from the past.... many memories.... It's a shame I lost the my original tapes though I have a mint vinyl copy of 'Flaming Chaos'... happy listening >safeandsound

This is right up my street, loved the clips I have heard so far online, thanks for all the information.
Will be getting into this music over this winter no doubt. I kind of very vaguely knew of them probably from inlays or press. But I was pretty young then and heard Ozrics first. I had a mate who's parents were pretty green and he used to take me to Whirlygig in London and I always found it great fun, you sound like the kind of band who could have been playing. : )

Never heard of them till i read this thread so jumped straight to youtube & had a listen to a few tracks. Very much an Ozrics sound without the super-slick production but i suppose thats the quality of the tapes from back then.I Will be investing in the CDs when they come out though.
The member Nick Van Gelder,is that the same fellow who released the funky house/dance CD 'Choose Music' in 2008? I Have it on a promo CD,11 tracks, not bad.

re: Van Gelder - the very same, ex- of Jamiroquai too. i don't know how anyone with such a rich musical heritage can drop to such lows, but his solo stuff is not too bad.

The track 'Gunk Rock' is superb! Did they inspire the Ozrics or was it the other way round??? Very similar,Ullulators sound maybe a bit darker than the Ozrics.Would love to hear their stuff remastered.

Having acquired all the remasters and listening to all of them in proper quality, I can now say. I really like them. I've grown to appreciate Monads more than I used to, I love it. All the tapes and Flaming Khaos are fantastic. I had enjoyed all those in the past but relistening to the rest of their tapes, I've grown to really like Ullulator, Ullulator What's That?, Feelin' Really Lazer and Banging Bones. I've always enjoyed Dark Nights and the latest. The dub albums are good but a little limited. Also the recent gigs with Tig on drums are excellent. It's a pity they're still extremely obscure outside the Ozrics extended family and even more so that they don't tour. I wish I could see them up close without having to travel to the UK. I do realise that they would not draw a crowd at all here though.
Currently playing FRL and I'm really feeling it, especially Zulu Proones, but the rest are very good too, I'd never paid attention to this one.
