I know I'm not compiling it but I think it would be good if there was a disc of covers and a disc of inspired by tracks. I'm sure people already have a track they could contribute to an inspired by disc

I favour the two disc covers/ originals option too. Not on soulseek BTW Orpheus.

First the PC latency problem, then working away for nearly a month, then I come home to find that the hard drive on the relevant 'puter packing in. Feck! After no small amount of hassle and expense, I've rescued the data and nearly finished Space Between Your Ears.
I'd rather have done Erpriff, but if it's now one cover plus one original, I'll probably finish it next time. Meanwhile Orpheus knocks out top class covers in his coffee break..

No-one has mentioned anything about their tracks apart from Mick and Dan Etherialise so either everyone is too busy or just waiting to drop some masterpieces on us all

hey wait a minute... Vibrant Flux's track has been ready since Halloween 2009... we just need to know where to send it... like a painter would say 'you can't see it 'til it's finished'... well " You can't hear this 'til it's on the compilation " so just let us know who is compiling this stuff and we will send a special link to them.... Peace we already have a track 'in the can' so to speak for this... we just need to know... where or how we should submit the master for inclusion of vibrant flux's code fer chickendon ?

I've one suitable thing nearly done and another lost in Cubase "Invalid Project File !" hell (gotta love that exclamation mark). My fault not backing up, but I coulda knocked out an album in the time I've spent fighting computers. Looking into Sonar ATM but not sure if I can meet any imminent deadline

Bloody cubase. I know what's its like getting corrupt songs, happened once to me years ago, since then I always create regular backups of the song file, often with plugins etc turned off (they seem to create instability sometimes) so that I can at least resurrect an earlier version of the song.
By all means send stuff to me, but I fear it is my contribution (or lack thereof) that will hold up proceedings. I won't have a chance to finish mine until July at least as I'm off to the UK for a holiday in May.

Aye, ya learn the hard way. But what amazes me is how little the sequencing app's have improved since I used 'em 10 ~ 15 years ago. Same basic midi & audio, same latency, and all the new PC horsepower taken up with unstable plugins. Tsk tsk. Phew. Might be an idea to set some kinda deadline, though. August ..ish??

Reason being that I only recently upgraded to WinXP from Win98, so anything newer wouldn't work... Problem is even Cubase SX looks completely different so you have to learn it all over again...

It's SX3 on an XP machine, etherealise. I've seen newer versions, but they looked like more of the same to me. I will say that the time warp tools woulda been handy back in the day. As long as VST32 5.1 has them, I doubt you're missing much.

I have a Microkorg, but haven't really recorded anything from it yet. Could somebody please recommend me a good program so that I can?

Sweet. It's not a bad machine, eh? Thanks, orpheus, but I already knew about that link. I was just wondering if you guys could recommend me anything. How about a good digital 8 track? Could you recommend me one of those?

The microkorg sounds good but I am afraid the keys are pants and the limited polyphony kind of sucks, as does the fact it is not very good for pads. But it is awesome for the stuff it does do well, such as arps and squelches. I keep managing to find new sounds on it in any case. There are some other good 8 tracks that may serve you just as well if you are not fussed about amp models or effects and if you already create drums. the Tascam dp-02 looks decent but I have no experience with it at all.
I have often seen Yamaha AW recorders for good prices on ebay and in my experience they are good recorders. In fact I wouldn't mind the 24 track version myself
The 8 track I use is a Boss BR-600, good machine, well priced with loads of features including tons of amp models and cosm guitar effects. Plus it has an in built drum machine

I don't have much to say regarding the keys (besides that they could be a little bigger), but the Microkorg itself I love. It seems that every time I play it I find at least one new sound.
Awesome. Thanks man.

Ok, good idea, I'll aim for August. August is one and a half month away. Is Erpitaph 3 any closer to materialising? Or are we talking Ozrics style deadlines?

I'd like to know too. I could maybe contribute something, as with volumes 1 & 2.

Apologies, I've been on holiday in Europe for the last 7 weeks, will be home in 10 days to think about how little I actually have to contribute to Erp 3! I have one half written ozricy tune (not a cover) but it needs lots of work...now technically unemployed so hopefully that will speed things up a bit.

so true about ozric deadlines ! i used to think ed was having to steal the tapes back behind the band's backs to put in the discrete vocals, so they wouldn't stop him due to some ethical misconsiderations !!

hi all, been following this one for a while now.i got some tracks i made which are well ozricy, about 8 tracks in total, recorded them a few years back in about a 6-8 wk period,it was strange the tracks almost fell out of the equipment.I was using then a roland mc505,yamaha rm1x,yamaha cs1x synth, yamaha an1x synth, roland u20 synth, akai sampler and plenty of ethnic percusion.the tracks are on a mini disc at present,am going to burn to cd and then get em on the ol laptop and try and get em on here so they can be down loaded.I think an ozrics inspired album gotta be good thing,im in. laters hedge.
