Say for instance you've got an eight year old daughter, who borrowed one of your Cd's, then proceeded to play it to death and scratch the crap out of it,... if you was to rip it onto Itunes to put on ya Ipod, would it do it, so when you listen to it on ya Ipod the scratch wouldn't be there or on the other hand, would it do it, but you would hear the scratch or lastly would it fail to rip because of the scratch...a little girls life hangs in the balance.

Sure beats smokin' bananas. Not sure I believe it though, and seeing as how I have no Scratches on my cds I can't prove it.
Can anyone say whether smokin' a dried Cd skin would get you high or not ?

..as long as you don't use peer-to-peer programs that share the mp3 files forward as you are downloading them. Sharin' is carin', and it's also a crime.

sharing isnt a crime, p2p softwar is not illegal there are loads of legitimate uses. if something hasnt been shared in the first place how can legitimate users benefit at all. the whole p2p situation is a legal minefield. it's all about wether or not someone has the rights to have a copy. educational, informational and evaluation purposes for a period of 24 hours is fine. i have downloaded many a thing just to evaluate if i would like to buy it or not. admitedly theres millions of folx all over this planet that use the thing illegally, however the software and the deployment/aquisition methods are not illegal in their own right.
if you go into virgin megastore or hmv or such they have 'listening posts' for evalution purposes. noone questions the validity of these. ok so folks dont get to keep the music unless they buy it but if you download something within the legal parameters you shouldnt keep it unless you have the right to do so.
for all those folks who take a moral highground over copyright i ask, have you ever used your video machine to tape a tv program that is not public domain(like news, weather etc). if you have ever taped your favourite show or film off the telly and kept it for more than 24 hours you have broken the copyright laws unless you had the relevant permissions in the first place.
i beleive in artists getting paid for their work, however to slate people for using p2p is as ludicrous as slating folks for using a video machine.
i for one have bought lots of stuff purely on the strength of a download evaluation. if you reccomend to me something i can see if it's 'my cup of tea' before parting with my limited funds for it. theres plenty of stuff i have bought that i wouldnt have taken a chance on without hearing it first!
when used properly, adhering to the laws in your country of residence, p2p software actually INCREASES sales.
