Inspired from the Jabular post.. I think this track has some embedded melancholy and it is a somewhat easily overlooked and yet epic track, had all the Ozric elements in tact and love that mega punchy drum roll in it. On par with some of the early Punge/Erp material, Deo has some sublime moments in it.
I am listening to Jabular each day thats one that was off the radar here so thanks for bringing it up.

Yeah man I love Oakum. I mean the version on Pongmasters, I'm not too keen on the others, even though I listened to the single one about an hour ago or so. But the Pongmasters one is one of my favourite Ozric tunes ever, I love all the elements on it, synths by Ed and Seaweed (great solo), bassline and superb drumming from Schoo. I'd be curious to hear the new line up's take on it too.
I told my sister some time ago as I put on Jabular for her that this is the music heard when transitioning from this world to the next, while you gradually lose all sense of identity and forsake your earthly existence. I might have been a bit stoned at the time...

Its one of my fave Ozrics tunes. One minute its mysterious, the next its mean & moody & then its chilled! A Very evocative tune, best heard at full volume while your lying on the bed in the dark!!! Mind blowing guitar/synth solo on 4.50.

Schoo did a good job on the drums I reckon, love the snare punch in the intro roll. Really nice inlay card for this cd release. 04:20 is one of my sublime moments, sends shivers down my spine and reminds me of walking down city streets in Bristol. 04:51 that intense solo has the kind of effects I like to hear Ed playing through. totally awash and taking off into............ well, aptly.. hyperspace and rising beyond our atmosphere with a jet stream exhaust of twisting, expanding and contracting phasers..... Nice.

is this the one with the synth at the beginning that mouths "what's the £$%^ing point?" in that case 'melancholy' doesn't come close - downright depressing for the first minute!!

Does anyone happen to have the physical single of this? The version that was available on ozrics.com is 256 kbps. I'd like to have it in proper lossless quality.

I have it Yannis and Its one of my favourite pieces in my collection, since that when I bought it, was at a gig in Athens, after the show I hang out with Jumping Jon for quite a time and he did me a unique personal autograph - drawing on it. I 'm very proud for this and for the whole experience.

Yanni I can't recall that in my memory....maybe cause of the many years or that I was pretty drunk or both.

Αs I've said before in this thread my fave version is the Pongmasters one, but my second fave is the one they've been doing on this tour. Has anyone enjoyed it as much as me?

I do prefer this version of Oakum over Coily live I must admit. We didn't get the jam either in Athens though. I heard that the promoter here wasn't satisfied with their turnover. IMO they chewed more than they could bite by adding The Cosmic Dead on the bill. Hope someone is brave enough to ask them here again.

Yeah, Coily is a beast and I don't fancy recent versions, imho the original is marked by Rad and Zia who are drivng it very far away.
