Greetings,
I discovered ozrics in about 1988 and was introduced to them with Sliding and Gliding - could it be a better first song to hear?!
I then for about 5 years or so heavily immersed myself in all things Ozric - I have Erpsongs, Tantric Obs, There is nothing, sliding gliding worlds, Live ethereal cereal, BBTB and Jurassic Shift - I saw the guys about 4 times
But then i grew out of them. Recently, I have sold my old tapes and replaced with cd's. And I have remembered how brilliant they are!
My problem is now I want to hear their later stuff but I'm Scared!! I'm scared of the volume of recordings out there since I lapsed and most of all I have so many memories attached to their early work that I don't know if I can face it incase it's not as good.
This is actually traumatic !! LOL
Can someone please recommend an album to start with from their later works 1992 onwards. ??
regards, David

David, are you in for a treat! Worry ye not. I have the entire catalogue of Ozrics recordings and they all bring something special to the Space Rock table. I had the same dilemma after seeing them live and not knowing which one to buy, so I went for Curious Corn at random, this is the one I would take to a desert Island if I had to choose! Every one will have their own recommendations, and the band have not made a bad album, I play all of them on a continuous loop!! I quite honestly wouldn't know what to do without them, get them all!!!:-)

David Buy them all, they are very cheap brand new. Dirt cheap second hand. The Ozric Tentacles spend a lot of time, love and energy in making this stuff. They don't bang any old rubbish out like some bands do. Every Cd is quality stuff. Go buy it all and think yourself lucky they haven't yet released 70 odd cds like Zappa or others. (If you were a dedicated Grateful Dead fan you would need to buy at least 200 live Cd's to just scratch the surface of the catalogue).
Sure people can recommend there personal faves here, but, you will end up buying them all anyway in the end (how can you resist that last slice of Chocolate cake ?).
If I could recommend any later work it would be Hidden step or Waterfall cities. Hidden Step is a colossus, the playing and imagination at work here is beyond words. (As is most music anyway)

I go with kirk. Get 'em all! They're all well worth having. The style has evolved a little bit, but the basic core of Ozricness is still the main thing. You could start where ya left off, with Arborescence. That was '94. It's really more of the same on from Jurassic Shift, same overall feel and style.

I agree too, get them all slowly but surely over eBay, but to be perfectly honest, you can give the remix album a miss. Floating Seeds. There are one or two good tracks on it, but on the whole, you will be dissapointed I think.

hello all, so I got me: Arborescene, become the other, curious corn, swirly termination, waterfall cities, the hidden step and erpland (which I didnt have already) haven't given them all a thorough listen yet apart from become the other which blew me away and I couldnt belive this was the new line up (as was then) Seaweed is Joie, he must be! Rad kicks Merv's butt (sorry Merv!) speaker a s a drummer meself. Very very pleasantly suprised as with the later stuff that as I said I havent had time to really do them justice but IMHO the new line up at that time rejuvenated them and they got back the "essence" that I felt was Ozrics - BTO is superb !! How great are these guys

Get em all, like everyone said and if you listen to sparky the Rad, Seaweed, Schoo era is their absolute best combo....... had someone really got their act together Jurassic Shift could have been the soundtrack to the like-minded movie.............
Become the Other, brilliant!!!!
