For those who've got any of my earlier material you might be interested to know I've uploaded a new album 'Soundscapes Volume 1' onto my website - www.nicktoone.com. This is my first release since August 2007 and will only be available as a 192kb mp3 download, no hard-copy cd's will be produced. Seven laid back instrumental tracks featuring guitar, gliss, synths, HAPI drums etc. The zipfile is 80Mb and contains 7 tracks and associated artwork. Enjoy!

Don't know how I missed all these fantastic links! Can't wait to give them all a spin when I'm home from work... expect friend requests to be flying on myspace... On the "Spacecake" front there are a few new tunes done and a new album coming out this year hopefully... one or two new tracks are on the myspace site- www.myspace.com/spacecakesmusicwww.spacecaked.com-Rob.

I'm hoping for a mention in the liner notes of the new album, my avatar was surely the inspiration for the cover -Rob.

OTL, perhaps its because you are tad too self-interested...badgering forum members to listen to your music doesnt always go down well. For sure, advertise it, but in the correct sections on the board, not liberally throughout unrelated sections. I will now take a listen to your stuff and you can have some karma if it hits the right buttons

OK, you seem to have put a lot of effort into the sites. Is that Mouse On Mars just a remix of the MOM or a genuine collaboration? The rest of the music is hit and miss. I believe in Milko starts well and develops oddly, but is quite nice in its quirkiness

ar.. i see... THATs what happened to my karma ! okay yeah - sozzle about that random postingness - just getting used to the way things are laid-out here...thanks for your impartial advice, and thanks for viewing some of the sites and having a listen, both to you yogbarogger and to damien for Your upbeat comments... i'll attempt to not transgress again in the matter of improper self-promotion... just a wee bit new to the business of spreading the love about !
ok cheers - all't best for your journeys...

oh yes - not so much an afterthought as... well an afterthought then i guess... thanks to damien and to yogabarogger for havin a listen. it's a pity if i am the only one having any fun though - gonna hafta tryta make ones that are more hit and hit... the Mouse on Mars is an unauthorised bit of chopping about where i used a few groups of bars as a rhythmic pad line and stuck bits of synth and percussion and stuff into it - i asked the dudes at mouse on mars myspace site if they minded me associating it with them but they were non-committal (maybe they're not even the band, like at the ozrics one i have where they haven't updated since TFTFA), so at first i didn't use it, but then i thought that a lot of good publicity comes from the sort of legal-wrangles that might result, so i put it up for free to listen to so that they couldn't really complain as all i am doing is spreading their word a little bit further...

Well OTL, I have a boss br600.....200 quids worth of digital 8 track with drum machine and effects built in. And a microkorg and a few guitars. Nothing else. And I'm constantly trying to make my recordings better and better every time and I honestly think I get some good sounds out of my gear. I guess it's all down to imagination. I used to record into my hi fi then bounce that and play along into the 2nd deck of my hi-fi. Sounded pretty dire but at least I was recording. So I guess I'm saying at least you're expressing yourself somehow, which can only lead to the formation of a musical identity

thanks orpheus - i should have had you in that list of pro-sounding people who shame me out ! just havin g a listen to yourspace right now and it totally outqualifies my efforts - makes me wann take them down or call them demos and get with other musos so i can be doing just parts of the job ....

Well I think everyone should explore both avenues.....their own creations and collaberative efforts. It's the classic thing isn't it wherein members of established bands branch out and want to do the inevitable 'solo album'. Personally I think the self exploration thing is grand as if and when you get it together with likeminded musicians you have a wealth of ideas to draw upon. I used to record and jam with some very strong minded musos who were miles ahead of me in terms of musicianship and although I was able to contribute it was always in a subtle way. Now I'm able to direct my tunes into areas I personally love...but still would enjoy the input of others at times

yes i totally want to work a dialogue into the composition... interplay of exchanged ideas, also mixing and mastering are best done by more than one pair of ears, compromises can be made and disagreements over how a tune should sound can form the basis of a track...
