I was excited to find the Pongmaster's Ball DVD in a music store here in Wisconsin, but when I tried to play it none of my three DVD players would recognize the region code 0, so I took it back. Anyone else have this problem? Has this been released in a region code free version? I was REALLY disappointed and I still want to see it!

if you have a region free dvd unit in your pc you can get some free sotware called 'fairuse'. this will allow you to 'rip' the dvd to your hard drive. then it is possible to save the file you have created to a recordable dvd. for that i use software called 'dvd santa' which allows you to choose the format that suits you best. so long as you keep your original(assuming its an official one) then this is perfectly legal. however if you sell on or otherwise dispose of the original then you must destroy the copy or it becomes copyright theft. it is possible to change the region settings for your pc's dvd drive but most drive limit the amount of times this is allowed and cannot be reset once that limit has been reached even if you format your machine and start fresh as the limit is set by a chip on the dvd drive. also it is worth asking friends if they have a dual format system to test it on as region may not be the issue and it may be the format. my pongmasters dvd is of the 'pal' format which is common in this part of europe whereas america, the carribean, japan and a lot of other places use a format called 'ntsc'. changing your dvd region will not fix this issue but the 'rip' method will.
sorry if this seems all a bit technical but thats how my brain works i am afraid!!!!!! drop me a private message if you wanna discuss it in more detail or you have any issues finding 'dvd santa' and 'fairuse'.

i think it may be in PAL format, not in NTSC..... there has been a flood of those PAL discs making their way into retailers hands here in the States... check it and see if that's the case, and return it unless you want to follow Si's advice above... i've been buying up a few spare copies that i can confirm are in NTSC while i can...

Ozricale
you need another DVD player, Yours should have played this disc. As region one should play on any player including playstations etc.
if you buy a Panasonic DVD, the shop you buy it from can reset the region code by entering a code with the remote control. I bought one specially to play region one import discs last week and it works fine.

I'm still waiting for me Pongmasters ball dvd, i ordered it from Amazon and it said it would take between six to nine days to be shipped, but i've also had the postal strike, holding it up as well. As there aint that much info about it on Amazon, i was wondering, is the dvd running order the same as the cd or is there more on the the live dvd. I need to know, coz i can't wait.
