The rarities yes. The rest has been discussed before.
Looking forward to the book more than anything, but the rarities might well be tasty.

Btw, it's been confirmed by Ed the four studio albums are the newly remastered versions.

I'm more excited about this than any new music, tbh. The book especially.

Just arrived - wow. Lovely 12" hardcover style with great artwork. Not taken the film cover off as I want to prise the sticker from that first (hate it when they do that).

Nice. I've been wondering what's on the demos and rarities disc.

Nice. I've been wondering what's on the demos and rarities disc. Apparently some familiar tunes are included: some of the extra tracks on the 2 CD reissue of Strangeitude plus Ayurvedism from the reissue of Pungent. Found this out on 30 Years.

Thanks, I found the post in question. Looks like I have all those tracks except an "earlier, stranger mix" of White Rhino Tea. So it's only really the book that would interest me.

Same here. It's up on discogs now. Nothing new for me. I does have Shaping the Pelm and Half Light in Thillay plus Ayurvedism remastered though, which didn't feature on the recent reissues. A bit disappointed tbh. I hope the book is densely written and I don't finish it in a couple of hours.

I bought this, and it is a lovely thing. I got the Vitamin Enhanced one too, even though - in both cases - I have all the albums already. The only thing I didn't have was the Fridge DVD (although I have seen it several times) so that's cool to finally have now.
The one quibble I have is the early White Rhino Tea mix is a bit of a mystery. I think they left it off the CD itself! It's in the liner notes and discogs etc, but the CD only has 4 tracks, and that isn't one. Anyone else have this problem?
All in all - it's a cool item to have, but it could have done with some more obscure material. I think we have to give Ed a pass though. I guess a lot of the archive must have been lost all those years ago in the tragic fire. Also, he put up so much other unreleased material for download (what happened to all of that on the website anyway?) previously.
The book IS cool. I like the articles, the old pics and new mandala artwork (even if for the money it's quite steep for just that). I will never EVER tire of hearing the music from that era though, so it's fantastic to see it released again, to reach new ears and celebrated in such fine style.

Is the book lots of photos with just a few things to read?

Very informative review. The book looks worthwhile.
These words surprised me: "Ed’s smoothed down some of the overly bright and trebly tones...the volume has been dialled down a notch" - that's the opposite of what I would have expected with the trend of remasters doing just the opposite.
Still, to my ears there was nothing wrong with the originals, in fact they sound fantastic. So unlike the Vitamin Enhanced stuff where I'm tempted to upgrade on sound quality, this tempts me less.

Is the book lots of photos with just a few things to read? It's more than that, really. It's got as much detail as I've seen on each of the recording sessions, and an almost track by track commentary, which is interesting. In terms of length though, it's no War & Peace... The review you posted has it about right I'd say. I see that the missing track wasn't just me either.

Agree on this - the original mastering of these albums was already fine by me - if anything dailing down the brightness has the effect of taking a little of the air out of the sound. On Vitamin Enhanced, I thought the finish on the 2013 set was a bit better, than the recent reissue, as there was more of an attempt to fix some of the flaws of the originals. Having said that - I still like the hiss, bumps and handmade feel of those as they were, but maybe that's just me.

Yes, I put my copy up on Discogs - took ages Real shame that the only new track (WRTweird version) is not even included!! My CD player is mothballed, but no need to unearth it now.

Got mine signed by Ed last month in Preston. Spent a fortune at the merch stall but worth it. Fantastic book, nicely presented!
