I mean I think I would literally buy anything Ozrics recorded. Any chance of setting up in a room with what you have and just playing ? Recording it to a flash recorder stereo 2 track in a room literally balancing the music as it was recorded back in the old days. Play for an hour and sell it for 10-15.00 online. Something unedited off the cuff and full of spirit. I would love it. I would buy something like this as well. Hell, they started out as a freeform jam band, might be time to return to the source while they sort things out with their home/equipment/etc...

Just heard - ditto all the best wishes. Awful for anyone to lose their home like that, double tragic that the world has lost the ozric archive.
Going by Brandi's posts, they seem to be showing admirable courage and tenacity where a lot of folks might feel like just giving in.

Why did I think you guys were living in town (FtC)? I'm so sorry for your loss. I thought I didn't know anyone up there. Shocked that it turned out to be you

Obviously these fires have been such a major international event that they received quite a bit of news coverage even in Tasmania where I live. Having seen the Paper Monkeys interview on youtube recently made me wonder how the band was affected - obviously they have lost the house and a lot of very important stuff and it has been a devastating blow for them. And of course it goes without saying that I was as relieved as anyone else here that they have personally survived this ordeal. I am also not the least bit surprised that Ozric Tentacles are now involved in fundraising efforts to assist others in the communities affected by this disaster. What I really want to say, however, is this... Despite what happens in this world, with natural or man-made disasters and despite any personal misfortune that might beset any member of the Ozrics, that nothing is ever lost and that every musical note from this band that has ever or will ever grace the ears, minds, hearts and souls of those on the receiving end (either during a live performance or from a recording), has and will continue to have a positive, profound, spiritual effect. I have been obsessed with Ozrics since 1994 and I can't believe how lucky I am that my favorite band that has been around for soooo long continues to this day to put out such amazing, life-changing music. Thankyou guys for your music that means so much to so many. Wishing you well in getting back on your feet and coming through this stuff with "flying colors" (could be a good album name...) Peace, love & happiness

im very sorry to hear about this, this is a tragedy. Like I and a couple others have said though, nothing lasts but nothing is lost. I know it sounds like a cliche but god, or the universe, or whatever you want to call it does work in mysterious ways. I have learned that if somethign really bad happens, its usually something that had to happen in order to push you in the right direction. A fire really is a perfect metaphor. There is a decent sized park where I live, it has been my favorite place in the area for a while with a good netowork of mountain bike trails, and some good wide open spaces where you can almost forget that your still in the city. It just burned this last spring, in 3/2012 just before everything started growing. I could see the flames from my front porch, and i was pretty heartbroken at the time to see my beautiful park burning. Just a few short months later though, and that park was the most beautiful place in the city. It was greener and more lush than anywhere else, deffinitely more beautiful than i had ever seen it before. It will take a while for the trees to make their comeback, but the park is exploding with life. So I spose we might see it as a bad thing while its happening but wait till you see how your mountain is going to look in a few short years. I bet the soil will be more fertile and your mountain will grow back more beautiful than ever. And now you have a blank canvas, a perfect place to build not just a house but a sacred home that is not only designed to meet your needs and desires, but also our mother earths needs at the same time. If you are willing to do most of the labor yourself, you can build a sustainable comfortable and efficient home for way cheaper than it costs to buy one or build one with traditional methods. There are alot of different sustainable building techniques, some of course would be better for the climate that your are in than others. My favorites are earthbag dome construction, and earthship homes. Heres a really cool earthbag dome that was built in colorado www.earthbagbuilding.com/projects/hart.htmit is labor intensive, but im just right up here in south dakota with w1sper so if you need a hand I would be honored to help.

I think the response are positive and great but I think the band should focus on getting their own heads sorted out (which obviously includes some security and a place to dwell) just rebuild their life in the way they see fit. All seems a bit complicated to me if you have no construction experience.... If my house burnt down it would be like extending an already hellish experience to me to have the stress of a self build with zero experience of such a job, personally speaking. Maybe buying a ready built house will be less of a drain on the earths resources, cause it already exists.
I imagine all options are on the table at the moment. There are times and places where you can consider the environment but we all have to live in this reality from a practical perspective, if it can be done in tandem with plans thats great and enviable but if not I can sure understand why.
I am sure they will work their way through in the best possible way.

earthbag domes require aboslutely no consturction expereince, if you can fill a bag with dirt, stack those bags up and slap some plaster on them you can build an earthbag dome. I dont want to get off topic here but there is no way a traditional home is less of a burden on the earth or the wallet than sustainable builing. Its just an idea though, there are lots of other options as well, earthship homes for instance. They are mostly built out of trash but you couldnt tell by looking at em, aslo if built right your house will stay the same temperature year roudn no heating or cooling required. Also people have been making some pretty cool houses out of shipping containers, there are even companies that do the interior for you with drywall, electircal outlets, a nice littel chandaleir and sliding glass doors. They are kindof small but theres no limit to how many you can incorporate into your home. You can even bury it for a bomb shelter, if those archives were burried underground in a metal shipping container they may have been safe. If you google "shipping container homes" youll see what I mean, they do some really cool stuff with those. No building required and they dont burn! Personally i just dont think buying or building a "normal" house makes any sense at all, its more complicated, more expensive and less efficient.
Anyway, just saying im only a hop skip and a jump away, so whatever you guys decide to do I would be honored to help in any way possible.

Hey Brandi, Ed and Silas - Your fans are sending extra love your way after hearing the sad news.
Ed's music and the band's energy has provided the soundtrack to my life for decades. Your music has brought me may hours of happiness.
Can we send a cash contribution to help out? Where can we send it? Or should we just go to your store and buy stuff?
Much love ans support. Hope your tour continues nicely.
Best wishes, Brook in Portland, Oregon

Sure Tok, thanks for more details, I understand they are unique and less destructive. Less so than a house that exists? Arguable. I just would always be wondering if one day I would be buried alive by earth sacks. I would employ someone with experience I just don't buy the fill em' and stack em' approach, at least on safety grounds. I am sure there must be professionals at this and that is 100pct worth paying for, it is still a major investment in your future, possibly you life depending on it. I like the shipping crate idea (and a great radiation block from the RF soup we live in, instant Faraday cage) though sufficient insulation against heat would have to be a serious consideration I bet you could fry eggs on the roof/heat water maybe?. I think deep inside we all have a desire to make a house ourselves, an extension of dolls houses and Lego as you age. And it is rather odd that as an inhabitant of the earth you are unable to simply create shelter as a human right without a humungous set of governmental red tape wherever you live. Even tin shelters in the Indian slums are smashed to pieces by Police with regularity for some $$$ development.
Anyway hope the band are finding some peace and stability.

Hi All ! Well, here we are reporting from our weird temporary rental in Loveland, CO. Today we have pots and pans and some dishes, we can now make meals again. Yesterday we got a table and two speaker stands for the studio (still don't have a dining table or chairs or a sofa, but that's not important) what's important is that we took Ed's computer tower we rescued, plugged it into his live mixer, hooked it up to his wedges, plugged in the Nova and the M-50, and at last finally heard some of of the tunes we'd been working on before we left on tour. It was both joyous and tear jerking to hear them again, wonderful to be able to, but so many memories came flooding in with each note, memories of the fluffiest place in the world . . . we can not thank you all enough for the amazing emails, encouraging words, and sound advice, there are so many messages I can't wait to get back to,... there are so many possibilities at the moment it's quite over whelming,... we're finally back online though also as of yesterday, so we can keep things updated now and keep moving onwards and upwards! Much love & thanks from us all ! xx

Marvellous news Brandi, thankyou so much for your update, as I know so many of us were wondering how you guys were makin' out. I just wish I lived closer to personally lend a hand (on second thoughts, as beautiful as Colorado is, I'm quite happy on my mountain in Pennsylania until Colorado "cools down"). Love to y'all..... so happy to see that the Ozrics' inner strength has surfaced. Take a deep breath, apply for every sliver of restitution that is due.... and know you have a much larger following than you ever thought possible... the world is yours.. TELL THE STORY. (Bands can't "buy" this kind of publicity, YOU guys know the true story of a band whose music has endured fire... that IS the silver lining, music magazines like RS would love to spread the words). BTW, How "wierd" is that rental? What are your plans regarding rebuilding, tours or future recordings?
Peace, Mick Bee.

So glad Brandi can has given us a positive update! When i joined this site at the start of the year i asked a question ''Has Anyone Ever Written A Book About The Ozrics?'' Well we sure have got another chapter to add to it if anyone ever does!!! Now would be a good time to get someone in with a view to writing a band auto biography. I Said before that even though i was a new fan it seemed there was a vast history of the Ozrics with many ups & downs & featuring many colourful characters who have been associated with the band as members or fans. The recent fire-funny enough could be a good starting point & earn some well deserved coffers for the group. I'd certainly buy one!

Brandi mentioned some time ago that Richard Allen was going to work or was already working on it. I'm looking forward to it myself. It's bound to be an interesting read, as the band came into contact with many different scenes and many interesting people. Some of the people I'd like to read an account of are Michael and Bob Dog and their artists.

I am beyond words hearing about the High Park Fire disaster to your home Ozrics . I have been a fan since hearing Sun Hair on WDET 101.9 Public Radio back in the fall of 1993! I have had the great privilege to see and hang out with you guys in the Detroit shows I seen you at in September 1994 at Industry Club, July 1999 at Majestic Theater where I met you guys backstage, and the latest in July 2004 at magic Bag Theater when I hung out with you guys at the bar called Como's and sat next to Schoo(ex-ozric drummer) and Harry Waters (your ex keys guy/Roger Waters son wow!!!). Those were some of the greatest rock n roll moments of my life going to those 3 shows!!! Your music has been a major influence on my writing, playing and overall outlook on being a part of the music world! Your reggae/dub tunes have really inspired my ex reggae band here in Michigan called One Love Reggae Band as reggae and dub are big loves of mine as well! When I heard the news about your home burning down and losing everything I literally became sick and felt bad all day long roughly a month ago from today's writing. I have had a few autographs by you guys and I am selling my last autographed item which is a sticker from the 1999 tour that I am selling on Ebay and I would like to send you guys at least 25% of the selling amount to help in your loss if it sells. I am also seriously thinking about telling some prog bands in the area to have a local benefit gig for you guys to help raise cash to help you guys out. I pray and hope all will get better and you will continue to make great and even better music well into the this century!!! Namaste, and God bless from a very dedicated fan!!! Joe I from the band Elemental 77.

Hi All, Was hoping to get back here sooner, but it's just kinda one things after the other at the moment. So much to do, (and we were so looking forward to coming home and relaxing after the tour), and now I have so many thoughts they wake me up at 4:00AM. Insurance seems to be both a blessing and a curse. Clean up is a nightmare, I really look forward to the day that everything around me isn't covered in ash. My poor car is just gross from being up there. ...We're trying to make sure it's not just all about that though. We've got a show from the last tour that we are going to put up on the site either today or tomorrow. It's the last show from the Europe tour, Circolo Magnolia in Italy. (We were almost going to do the Madsummer Meltdown one, however the recording quality from Milan was so much better, and we were all so tight and care free at that point... =) Also, I just went ahead bought www.agiftofwings.com, I can't think of anything better really. Right now it just links back to ozrics.com, but Silas and I will start programming next week, and we'll also be meeting with a non-profit lawyer, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. All proceeds from the show we will post will currently go towards rebuilding the Ozric shop side of things, which will fund the non-profit, I for one want to reprint all the old T-shirt designs and have them available on the site, what do U-lot think? I can not believe I lost all my Nodens Ictus T-shirts in the fire, I'm going to have to reprint those! Any other suggestions? I want to set up "a gift of wings" so that other bands and companies will want to sell through it as well, by that I mean the site should provide each artist with a fair dealer price for each cd or T-shirt, but the site itself will basically just be a non-profit store front that aids as many worthy causes as it can sign up. . . I've also been talking to a promoter in Europe about doing a traveling Ozric (Friends and & Family) festival along these lines next year. ....Oh yeah, and we have been talking about the book again, and a possible box set . . . but more to come on that later. As usual any advise that any non-profit wise people have for me is most welcomed, and thank you all for being a constant source of inspiration as usual, . . .~love & light ~ b x x

Wow so much to take in. I'd like another Eternal Wheel t-shirt, my old one looks like it was shot at with a machine gun. Ozrics friends and family? Drooling already. Looking forward to the book. A box set? I wonder what that'll consist of. Looks like it's going to be a year of Ozrics expenses

It's been a long time since my last visit at the forum, so sad with the conclusion of this terrible fire. The only thing that can make me feel better is that all three of you are ok and (judging from your posts brandi) have the mental strenght to start again from the beggining. You already know that you have a large group of people that will help you in any way we can. All of the ideas you have are great, hope you make them happen and see you in Greece (friends and family) happy and smiling as always. My best thoughts and wishes, Petros xxx

how about some of the old spikey ozric logos? i seem to recall seeing one in the late nineties that was a turquoisey/blue t-shirt, but with an eye-blinding red spikey logo on it. i kicked myself for not buying it... and i have never seen one since. i think if you saw one you would maybe consider a re-print also, a question about the ozric bags. i use similar bage, but need a new one... is the ozric one an 'ove-the-shoulder' one, or is it to be carried by hand, if you could clarify the nature of its design i will buy one in the near future. cheers and keep up the good work

Some new designs of the 'old' t-shirts would be great,no offence but the current ones sold in the shop arnt that great. Some 70's style 'retro' t-shirts would be a good idea or some in the style of the Psychedelic 60's Posters. Why not do some designs to incorporate some of the older album sleeves? Also 'Tour T-Shirts' with the names & dates of the venues printed on the back would be good. Also make them in other colours besides black! Some white ones would be good. I'm sure people wont mind paying extra for better quality designs etc. And posters,i'd like to see some of the band members especially Ed in full flow on the guitar! The book will be brilliant especially with lots of old photos, maybe people could send some into you as i'm sure theres hundreds or thousands floating around that even you havnt seen. Lastly i believe your sound man records all the gigs? I Filmed the gig at the Hare & Hounds in May on a HD camera. I Was quite near the front & the quality is really good, your welcome to the footage if you want it,it might be good to use your sound recording with my footage for any future DVD extras on future remastered double CD albums?

Plus white ones can be worn in the sun and feel comfortable.
