Hi All, We can not thank you enough for your kind words and concern during this difficult time. On this solstice, Friday, June 22nd, 2012, our lovely mountain Erpland burnt to the ground, taking with it all of our archives, photos, masters, studio equipment, artwork, a ton of instruments, the list goes on and on. We were really having fun making those posh re-releases with all kinds of new images and bonus material, but all that is going to be a lot harder to find now. I was thinking to maybe open a P.O. Box, where if people have old photos or recordings or various other mementos collecting dust they think we should have, then perhaps they could send them on when they have the time. We have created this email account: ozricmadsummermeltdown@gmail.com for anyone who wants to send messages, digi images, or audio even (though it probably won't accept large files, but it's at least a contact for a start to open up some ideas), ...or any information on building houses, preferably sustainable, or anything at all that that they feel they would want to pass on to brighten the day be it a joke, or advice, or to advise us that they have any studio gear they are getting rid of, we're going need to buy a few things . . . !
Communication is quite difficult at the moment, we are kind of all over the place, things should settle down in a bit, but maybe not for a week or two, I'll try to keep checking in but the amount of questions I have to answer this week is quite over-whelming especially after not getting to come home after the tour, we're STILL tired from that ! =)
For all the locals in FoCo our friend Kyle from "Good Gravy" is putting on a charity benefit show for High Park Fire refugees this Friday evening, all proceeds go to rebuilding homes for those who have lost them.
Still shocked but alive. . .love & light ~ brandi x x (& ed & silas)

Shit this is the worst news ever in the long history of the band. Hope you can soon get a place to stay or rebuild the old one, as well as get together the necessary equipment to keep functioning as a studio band. All the best.
Last but not least, big shame about the Ozrics archives.

What terrible news Really i am so sorry to hear that brandi, i hope the tentacles continues right on through, because in my opinion you guys are kicking serious ass this year, and i think Paper Monkeys is absolutely one of your best albums EVER. Just wishing you luck and grace, and letting you know i live in South Dakota, not too far away, and would be willing to help you out in any way I can. I am part of a "future community" like a sustainable community, and have tons of good info on sustainability and homesteading. I would drive down from SD to help you if need be. Cheers, wishing you blessings, sometimes the universe works in strange ways, but your tenacity is to be applauded! Hope you find the support you need to keep right on truckin! Love from w1sper/luke

My heart goes out to all those who lost everything in these terrible fires... and it is very saddening to me that tragedy has befallen such an incredible band (my all time favorite and many others' favorite also) please "keep keepin' on" and we'll keep our heads' up for you (and hopefully with you). WE ALL LOVE YOU GUYS! So glad you are physically safe. You will stay in our thoughts as always. Hope you are able to keep us well-posted with any promising news through the upcoming months.

I'm am terribly sad to hear about you losing your home - I hope that it won't be too long before you get back on your feet and grow a new place to call home.
The loss of the archives hits all of us hard. I can't imagine what gems are now lost forever. You did a great job with the existing archive releases and this has whetted an appetite. I imagine that some older fans will have live material - but I guess most of it is already "out there" - it was the stuff still lying undiscovered for decades that you had in your possession that will be the biggest loss, from a musical fan point of view.
However, even this must be put in perspective from your personal loss of home, and possessions. While there are fans, you will have a wide support and hopefully a basis for the band to regain some of what was lost.

I'd just like to echo what the others have already said.
This is incredibly sad news.
Thank you all so much for what you've given me over the years - now it is time to return the favor. Surely there is a way that your fans can speed up a return to normalcy?

This is a terrible situation for any individual or family to be in - and how anyone feels about the current incarnation of the band is UTTERLY irrelevant at this time. They have lost their home, and everything that was part of it. Mere words cannot express the enormity of losing a lifetime of work in an instant. As a musician I cannot comprehend how I would feel if everything I'd ever done literally went up in smoke.
Anything I have from my 20-odd years of collecting is yours.

This was the news I too was dreading. Thanks for the update Brandi... I hope Ed, Silas and yourself have a place to stay (knowing there are hundreds of other fire victims in your area). I mentioned there may be a silver lining... as nothing can reverse the reality... so I've spread the word to progressiveears.com/ (where you have many fans also) as I'm sure Facebook already has this sad news. The silver lining is publicity... this could be a situation which puts "Ozric Tentacles" into oblivious minds via the media. Do the interviews Brandi, you are in the spotlight... speak! Insurance is slow, your record company and agency have leverage plus a stake in your future.... turn this tragedy around and remember Brian Jones made the Stones MORE famous! I hope ya have a shitload of marshmallows.... 'cos I'd hate it if your smile was lost. We love you guys.... yet we are but a few in the grand scheme of life... ... and now you don't have to worry about havin' too much stuff and nowhere to put it, plug in what you have and show the world that it aint over 'while the cute chick plays! Mick.

This is truly heartbreaking news. To lose your home is bad enough, but to lose a lifetime's worth of work as well is just horrific. Thankfully you are all okay though. Brandi if you would like to set up a Paypal account where people could donate to in order to help you guys out, please do. Lastly: ... and now you don't have to worry about havin' too much stuff and nowhere to put it, plug in what you have and show the world that it aint over 'while the cute chick plays! Mick. I agree with Mick- equipment may have been lost, but the musical imagination and talent of the band has not been lost. As a fan, you could buy some minimal equipment and record live jams, and i would happily purchase them. In time, the studio can be rebuilt, and more extravagant recordings made. Once again, thankful you are all safe, and hope you have somewhere to stay.

Seems to me that if a school bus monitor can get $650,000 USD from strangers for being bullied, we ought to be able to raise some percentage of that from fans that care.
I bought Paper Monkeys from iTunes tonight even though I own the CD.
If Ed / Brandi sets up a Paypal account or an Indiegogo.com account, maybe it could help smooth the rough spots and maybe even help buy a house / studio gear / whatever.
They've played music to my ears many many times when I was down, and the money I've paid for their music doesn't begin to equal the joy I get from it. Am I alone in thinking that it is time to pay it back?

Hello. Not left any messages for awhile but often check in for the latest news... Very sorry to hear about the family home, studio equipment, recordings etc. The important thing is that you are all ok - you could continue making music using tin cans and fence wire, I'd still buy it! The recent gig in Bristol was one of your best in my opinion and Paper Monkeys is a great album. Hope you manage to get some sense of Ozric normality (oxymoron?) soon, my thoughts are with you. Love Chris x

So sorry to hear, guys! We go camping every year up the Poudre Canyon so that area hold a special place in our hearts. So sad to see the devastation to the land, and especially to our neighbors. If you are hankering for a home cooked meal would love to host a cook out. I live in North Denver. Shoot me a message.

With the growth of the fire over the weekend, and especially the increase of structures lost, I can't say I'm surprised to hear this terrible news, however much I (and all of us) was holding on to the hope that the home/studio would be spared.
Does anyone have any info on the benefit show on Friday? I'd like to come show my support, and I would imagine the other locals here would too...

words cannot describe what you guys must be going through. is there any way of putting together some kind of benefit album? perhaps the chap who has remastered the vitamin enhanced stuff could get them to you and you can put this out? we would all love to help you guys, but as music is our common denominator, we could all show our support by buying these tracks? we're all behind you in spirit. and remember that you have kept us all happy with your amazing music for so many years, and we owe you big time for sticking to your guns and keeping on producing your beautiful sounds. on a spiritual note, tragedies are often the fuel for generating a vaster state of mind. this is a horrific event, and will take you time to come to terms with the loss, but you will be richer for it. and this will come through in your future music. i know you are all probably numbed to the core, but please don't despair. you mean a lot to us and we're all thinking of you. x

hey guys, brutal news and very sad to hear it... good luck and stay positive
my opinion...yall should set up a way where ozric fans and members of this board can donate a few bucks to help y'all out, may be small amounts but i reckon it'd add up, or any other ways where donations can be made to help the whole community as well, tell me where to sign up!
cheers and much luck

No.1 keep away from the poisonous smoke, with health you have a basis for potentially anything. Of course this does not diminish the terrible effects of this fire. Wishing you luck and safety in the next period.
Yep... get that Paypal set up, £50.00 pledged here as soon as you make it public on here I will send it through. There is no band that means more to me. (I would do the same for any of the legacy members should their fate be so unfortunate)

You guys are the best, no one else has fans like Ozrics! =) There are quite a lot of options on how to move forward at this point. . . for quite sometime I have been working on a non-profit plan to benefit, well, whoever people want to benefit really. It's an interesting concept that I have wanted to get the ball rolling on, and now it seems like we have a very real reason to get it going . . . I'm going to need to get the non-profit itself set up, I've heard that part can be tricky. . . we'll also need to set up a website for it, (which will take a bit of time =P). . . basically I want to offer our products for sale on the site, and then give the customer a list of charities that they can elect to give 50% of the purchase price of the cds, T-shirts, posters, tickets, and downloads to. At which point they click on there charity of choice and then receive a receipt for their tax deductable charitable donation. So basically they can buy tickets to a show, plus a t-shirt and a cd, fund their selected favourite charities, and then take half the price off their taxes.
So I think next week's mission is to work out how to open the non-profit . . . and then get both a visual and audio monitors set up (anywhere we've got space) so we can get a few live shows from the last tour up on this site. Then once we've got that in place we'll start working on some T-shirts, and maybe some of those papermonkey cups . . .
Time for a new focus for the next year, the mission to benefit eveyone. . .
Gotta run, they are going to let us back up to the house today . . . it's going to be weird, we'll bring you pictures . . . =P much love & light & thanks ~ b x x

Can't believe this. It looked like you had such a beautiful place in a beautiful location. It must be bewildering and sad to lose everything you have, memories and instruments you have grown up with. I'm glad you are safe and glad I saw you play in Bristol when you came. I hope you're able to build it all back up better and stronger than before and I hope to see you on the road again.
Very best of luck in rebuilding everything, Brandi, Ed and Silas. Please let us know how you are doing.

And here in the UK we've had monster rainfall & floods like we've never seen in June before. Hope everything goes well.

Brandi, Ed and Silas, so sorry to hear of loss on the heels of such a wonderful time I had at madsummer meltdown
Ozrics certainly have fans like no other but this is a band like no other.
They have not even begun to sort out their own lives and already a plan is developing to swing this non-profit idea into high gear....to benefit others.... Epic!
Not in the least bit surprised since they are super cool people. And of course the music....It speaks volumes....I knew from the first CD I listened to...this is cool dude who writes this...and everybody involved will be awesome
Ozrics Rock!
