Birthday's coming up and its a choice between an Ipod touch or a Creative Zen mp3 or a Samsung mp3, but whats the best one, i be mostly using it for music, and to be honest I'm not really sure what the difference is between an Ipod and an mp3 player, i will mostly be installing music from my own cd collection instead of downloading, coz I'm a bit old fashioned, as i like the cd book in my hand. So bearing that in mind, whats the easiest one out the two, to do that with. So Anyone with a bit of knowledge out there, can you please enlighten me as to the pros and cons of each format, so i can make a bit more of an educated choice...Cheers.

well, let me first say that an ipod IS an mp3 player people seem to forget that. it's just cleverly (and brutally) advertised to be different. i've never owned an ipod, but i'm sure there's no format difference. they're all just deviced to upload music to and downloading versus taking from cds..no difference there either. unless you decide to rip the files at a higher bitrate. i have a creative zen, and i find it works very well. but if you're looking for the easiest player to use, the ipod would probably win.

Hang on, this is already getting a bit over my head, if i buy the Ipod touch, all i really wanna know is, can i put my Ozric cd's onto it as well as some of my others, and the same question goes for the mp3 player. I haven't got a clue what you mean by ripping bitrates. I'm kinda getting the message that the Ipod's easier to use, but the Creative zen does just as much and a lot cheaper but just not as user friendly...am i right, i'm still confused.

Hello. I've had both Samsung and Creative Zen and for me the Samsung clinches it with slightly better sound quality IF you get the latest 4GB model....

Cheers guys The samsung one, i was on about, i think is the latest one, its got the built in speaker at the back, but anyway we've established that cd's can be installed, but is it a case where these Ipods and mp3 players are not really designed to do that, and that you have to kinda do it through the back door, or is it just a case of putting your cd's on to your computer and then installing on to your Ipod or mp3 player through there software that is provided. Whats involved in doing that and is it easy?

i have an iPod, they are overpriced compared to other things but so simple to use, I also use iTunes to load it up (for my pains). You can set iTunes to convert your CD's to various formats and sampling rates, I use AAC but a good quality MP3 is just as good, anything over 200 will be okay. my missus has tried one or 2 other products and got lost and frustrated, she ended up getting a pod as well.

i have a pocket pc which doubles as a mobile phone. i copy my mp3s (ripped from cd's, dead easy and straightforward) onto my memory card and off i go!!! it pauses music while i am in a call then starts again as soon as the call ends. does the same with videos too and handy for showing pix off too. it goes on the internet via wireless hotspots and stuff. i even run a version of 'rebirth' which is like a sequencer syntheser jobby for making lots of noodly noisez. the advantage of using memory cards is of course your ability to carry huge amounts of stuff with you like ALL your cd's fit into your wallet/purse/pocket way overkill for your uses by the sound of it but do a search on ebay for 'smartphones' which are similar devices but without so many 'trimmings' and as it's your phone too you arent carrying yet another gadget while your out as they are all rolled into one
oh and it gets me to gigs and back too with gps too

Got a run this one by ya as well. I've ordered the Pongmasters ball dvd, which i have subsequently read since, is a region zero disc, will this play on my region 2 dvd player, as i think now i may have ordered something that's not gonna play on my dvd, and secondly is it 5.1 or 2.0 sorround sound.
