Years ago, early nineties, my mate at work done me a tape of ozric stuff, it was only one of those sixty minute tapes as well, so not long and on it was a mixture of tunes from Pungent effulgent and strangeitude which i didn't konw at the time. At first i wasn't sure, but the more i listened to it, the more it grew on me. Anyway like all things, i was listening to other stuff at the time as well and because it was only on this tatty old tape, i ended up losing it somewhere or taping over by mistake with some hardcore. Anyway last year, i was in Hmv when out the corner of my eye i saw this multicoloured Ozric best of (Eternal Wheel) it was only going for about seven quid so i bought it, listened to it in the car, because the missus aint into anything like that and i forgot how bloody good they were. From that intial buy, i looked on the internet, and at first i couldn't believe how much they had done and second they were still going, so i ordered from the very beginng right through to The floors too far away. And along with Led Zeppelin, they have one of the finest back catalogues ever. It still amazes me that all though they want to remain underground, that somehow they remained just that, a hidden gem. For they offer an alternative to the run of the mill that alot of people who have probably never heard of them would really like. I would love to see how they would go down on somewhere like the main stage at Glastonbury.
