Kirk the day you was ticketed for eating a sausage roll was damn unlucky and may have been such a surprise to you to get pulled up, but you are not alone. Story on the news that a chap was ticketed for blowing his nose at a traffic light. I myself will have to watch out as I twiddle my thumbs.

Yes you'll be "up against the wall" for that, it might offend somebody or other. Well everything else does in this lunatic country.

Pete one of my former work mates told me that before joining us he worked for a leading T.V rental company and used his van to tow his race car to races on the weekends. He was spotted by a company director being driven in his ROLLER.

Yep come back. Sabbath did not invent the Genre of Heavy Metal though. They get credited with this a lot.
The first Heavy metal record (Heavy guitars and lyrics about Demons etc) was "Come to the Sabat Satans there" by Sabat (not related to Sabbath) in 1967. They were a Bristol band and Vinyl copies of that LP are worth about £300 now. This info is from the "Record Collector" magazine.

People also credit The Nile Song by Floyd as being a proto metal track.
Sabbs better come out of hiding soon as I did a rendition of Planet Caravan for his listening pleasure

Saw Sabbath a few times when I were a lad (memories of The Railway in Curzon Street). They were actually banned from Birmingham Town Hall (as were all other bands using amplification) as they quite literally brought parts of the ceiling down I've been fortunate enough to see nearly all of my favourite bands at one time or another, including Floyd, Zep, Genesis and Zappa. My favourite track over the last few years is by a band I've never seen - Boards of Canada's 'Kid For Today' from the very wonderful 'In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country' E.P.

I've got a couple of trivia questions 1) in which year(s) and which lineup(s) recorded the bonus tracks on the Snapper releases? 2) on the Angel Centre 89 Taste video is it Steve Everrett doing synths along with Joie?

Hi guys again. Thanks for the warm comments. Kev. Will catch you up regarding PLANET CARAVAN - nice one! ;D Quinoa. The Sabs, with Van Halen opening for them was actually 1978 (yeah, I know I nit pick...) The last date of that tour (and Ozzy's' last) was Dec 11 1978 in New Mexico. Where did you see them to Quin? Garion. Regarding the banning at the town hall, I know their gig there was cancelled in 1971. Wonder if that was the reason? They did though play there later.....Jan 72 for example. Was The Railway a pub in Curzon Street where you saw the Sabs play?. Have you a year? Nutter. Alright Ed? What's the latest with the jackets? Did they ever wear them? Did they ever get back to you? Kirk. What issue of Record Collector was this 'Sabat' info in?

Hello Sabbs' good to have you back. I did get a nice message from ED before sending and Dominic said that Silas showed Dom' my jacket to him when he last visited the Wynne's . It was J-mac who thankfully told me they had received jackets on the thread 'Message to Erpland'.

Your right. Nov. 28th 1978, Denver. I was only 14.

At the McNichols Sports Arena...
I saw them in my home town of Southampton that year, and VH were shit hot. I was 18 and just got their debut album, and was blown away by it. It's still my favourite of theirs my miles.

I only sorta warmed to VH II. The others I found to show bizzy rock. They done an interesting cover of Budgie's IN FOR THE KILL track, pre first album.

Thats right the McNichols Sports Arena... I concur. VH was smokin' and their first is best. Then I saw Ozzy w/ Motorhead 18 June 1981 Denver at The Rainbow Music Hall. 5th row center. I didn't get a chance to see Hawkwind until their 20th Anniversary Acid Tour in 1989. What an awesome trip that one was. And I can hear myself shouting from the first row on Palace Springs.

@sabbra
Yes, it was called the Old Railway in Curzon Street in Birmingham (sadly now demolished), the year regrettably is masked by the effluvium of a thousand wossnames and encroaching senility, but it would have been early '70's. I think it could well have been '72 when amplification was banned from the Town Hall, although I saw Steve Hackett there with minimal amplification some years later.
Most of the live venues that existed in the area at that time have now closed - the Odeon cinema in New Street used to host gigs, and I saw Genesis there (for 4 quid, face value) and Magnum who were excellent in their day before adopting poodle perms and spandex and making loads of dosh across the pond..

I've read on a couple of sites that some french director called Morel, i can't remember his first name, but he's the bloke behind Taken, Distrct 13 and the new John Travolta film, well, his next project is Dune, and although the David Lynch version isn't perfect, it was stylish to look at and engrossing. I also hate Toto but somehow the soundtrack worked as well, it was i suppose, the first real departure from using classical music in scifi films. Now eventually getting to my point, i would love hear what the Ozrics would come up with, if given the responsibillity to make a soundtrack for the new film, as i believe the Ozrics music would really fit with a movie like Dune, hand in glove, when you consider songs like Phalarn Dawn, Toltec Spring, Sultana Detrii, Meander etc, etc. Sometimes you just wish you could get hold of someone in the know and say, Listen to these, they would be perfect for the film.

Yes, yes yes, I've been sayin' that for ages. An Ozric soundtrack would totally make a sci-fi film. They might have to pare the music down a bit like some of the older stuff.. Toltec Spring and Dune ..oh yus. As I understand it, the problem is that the people who stump up the money for big productions just will not take chances. They want safe formula films, same actors, same composers - even the same music - over and over. So that's what we get.

Yes but what if they accepted a commission to record the soundtrack to something that turned out to be a pile of utter crap. Would that help them or hinder em ?
It never hurt the career of Tangerine Dream though. Although I do wonder just who it is that bothers to buy their stuff these days.
Avatar looks amazing but I could have written a more original story for it when I was only 5.
Top Gun part 2, music by OT (I'd rather chew off my arm and swallow it than face something as terrible as that)
Jurassic Park part 5 (the revenge of the Veloceraptors) Music by OT..... Nah not bothered about seeing that one either.
Light shining thru another venetian blind by Steven Speilberg .. (don't all his films feature that)

It does seem that soundtracks that have been as engaging as the movies they appeared on are a thing of the past. Some exceptions as always. 28 days later had a very atmospheric soundtrack in parts. I am biased though as my favourite soundtracks are almost all from the 70's era. The Wicker Man and play it again Sam being 2 of my favourites alongside most Dario Argento/Goblin soundtracks. Suspiria is an aural and visual delight. Who cares if it makes no sense whatsoever

kirk - yeah, there's always that possibility. And knowing Ozric's luck...
But I was thinking of what Watermill said. District 9 was different and a genuine sci-fi flick (as opposed to a western with lazers). Dune made by that crew.. screaming for Ozric, surely?
Re the Speilberg volume light thing - nearly, but there has to be a mechanical toy or TV suddenly coming to life at the same time.

Orpheus - I thought this one was nice and quite Ozricy :
And sometimes the wrong music is the right music

Garlicmick, I'm afraid there's a confusion between District 9 (which is a pretty good movie) and District 13, which is ( to me), a crappy action movie from frenchman Pierre Morel (who is working on the new 'Dune').

Woops! How embarrassing Thanks for putting me right anyway, jpeg. Well, there's another another cinematic sci-fi disappointment before they've even started.

Yes Mick, Walter/Wendy Carlos' work on Clockwork Orange and The Shining are both great in places.

Ha Ha, yes !. But in the first Jurassic Park film there's a dinosaur in a crate and light shines from inside the crate in that classic style. El Dino must have had a torch or something..

Woke up this morning and found an Ozric tune circling my brain, hey theres little else going on in there. da da da da dom,da da da da dom,da da dom,da da dom repeated. Started going through some of the latest stuff to see if I could find, but no joy, but then I seem to remember it was on that live gig Atlanta track 5 'the jam'. My question is does this tune appear anywhere else in past albums.
