Since I'm new to the board - just a little background on me then I'll get to my point. I have been an OT fan for twelve years and have seen them in Amsterdam (Melkweg), Chicago (the Abby), Baltimore (about 6 times over the years), Virginia (State Theatre), Nearfest 2006, and the Allgood Festival in West Virginia a few years back.
So I do have a little experience with seeing this band live. I even had the pleasure of relaxing with them after Nearfest, just my wife, myself, Ed, and Brandi. When I was in Chicago, I got into town way to early, so I just waited around the Abby which has a restaraunt. It eventually lead to me having a chance dinner with the now departed Jon Eagan. These occurances are maybe not so rare, as the Ozrics hang out with fans on many occasions, being the nice folks they are.
NOW TO MY ADVISE FOR YOU OT FANS - Given that OT are on the schedule for several outdoor festivals - if there is any possible way within your powers to see them at an outdoor festival venue then DO IT. There is nothing like it. Imagine a good indoor showing from the band and multiply it by 100. Magic can and usually does happen at these shows. While I will still see this band anywhere, I am almost inclined to say a FESTIVAL IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO.
Yes, I know its pretty expensive to fund a trip to these places and all of the camping logistics and so forth. But the bands and people are great, and if you have never been to a festival, you will be changed forever thereafter. I realize that this is not possible for all, but if you even have close to the means, go for it and start planning. You won't be sorry. If you have any questions about how to camp and prepare for something like this, I will be glad to help.
NOTES: Ozric came on the main stage around 2 AM at the Allgood Festival a few years back. Magic. They will not appear on the main stage at the 2007 Allgood. Campground stage on Thursday night for early birds. Still should be wild.
Also, I have a question, is Ozric Playing 2 nights at that Festival in Kansas. On another post it had 2 nights, but I only saw them listed once on the festival's schedule.
