Hello everyone!
Im loving sounds of Zithers (sounds like Koto are some similar type instrument) used in album Technicians of the Sacred
Anyone knows the source of these, are they live recorded or used as kontakt bank or something similar?
I'd like to replicate some of these in my creations!
Peace and Love!

Hello. I don't actually have that album but knowing Ed's love for ethnic instruments it could well be the real instrument. I think he mentioned using koto in an interview years ago (on Jurassic Shift maybe?) I have rarely used samples of those sort of instruments but depending on what you're trying to do I think you could get a good result if you're looking for textures. I have recently discovered Cimbalom (it's a Hungarian instrument) for Kontakt: www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/grand-cimbalom/ It sounds a bit like a dulcimer, really interesting sound.

Zither or our local version 'citre' is a well known instrument.
Years ago I was intrigued by the intro in the track Steep (off the Swirly Termination album), and apparently that is zither as well.
I myself like the sound of qanun best.

Definitely sounds like samples from a keyboard on Steep rather than an acoustic instrument.
