not sure who will be in the band but would be cool if some past Ozrics musicians were in....Jon, Joie, etc? I think it would probably be safe to assume Silas will be involved. But he did appear side by side with Joie on the Ed & Friends gig at Kozfest. I wonder if there'll be free-form jams, but there will probably be Ozrics tunes.

More cohesive/less varied than which Ozrics I guess would be my question. I'm not familiar with the last three, and in fact do not own them.
I reckon any Ozrics album. Maybe not The Yum Yum Tree. There's just so much variety and the tunes morph more radically on OT albums.
This is not meant as criticism, instead it makes more sense that it's not an OT album.
I'm not sure I heard it that way, but I'll give it time and see.

I wonder to what degree it's artistic choice and establishing a solo identity vs some issues using the OT name...or maybe just a preference for working solo (which I can understand).
Either way Im sure the Ed Wynne band will be good.

Agree that it could be a combination of reasons it's "Ed Wynne Band" rather than Ozrics but also that Ed Wynne Band will surely be good. That Kozfest jam with Joie and Jon and others gives me hope that there can be a reunion of sorts. Great too if Silas plays with him of course.
Also, just listened to the new Gong lineup play "Master Builder" and it does indeed sound good.

I saw that video and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The psychedelic synths were one of the main reasons I got into Gong but I didn't miss them on this.

I'm sure I can hear a synth drone in the intro but for the most part gliss guitar is creating an atmosphere of its own. Bizarre having Gong with no keyboards though.

Quiet on here lately. Or maybe more accurately we're back to one post a week.
Still wondering who will be in Ed's band. Any whisperings?

"Ozric Tentacles’ Ed Wynne will join Gong as a special guest on the UK tour, and he'll be playing in support of his new solo album Shimmer Into Nature."
May 5th in Newcastle - a month too early (I return from 2 years in Canada in mid-June)...dammit.

An interesting remix

I was fully prepared to hate it, as I usually do with remixes. But this was not quite what I was expecting. A bit of synthwave in there...

Here's Ed talking about where the album was recorded:
Just a snippet, not a full interview unfortunately.

Thanks for the interview snippet! Interesting comments by Ed re. the oxygen/air in Colorado and sea level.
In case folks have not seen this, via "30 years of Erpsongs", Ed will play with " Zazza Drums, Silas Wynne and Vinny Shillito."
Really wish I could see this gig, along with Gong....should be great. A snippet of the new Gong:

Found this bit of live video from Ed Wynne Band a few days ago, band sounds great. Shades of Ozrics from years back, Ed is on fire on guitar, some new (old) spark there, love it:

They deserve a bigger audience than what I can hear here.

Hopefully they will turn into/replace the Ozrics and tour properly with two-hour sets.
It's already been three years since the last time I saw Ed live. I'm having withdrawal symptoms.

I know, it's a shame. But I must say they were better in the late 90s - early 00s, when I saw them the most, than mid 00s on. Except the 2010 gig, which was amazing.

Agree they were better in the late 90s-early 00s......Not on Facebook myself, but glad I could view this on the 30 Years of Erpsongs page without needing an account....love this acoustic Ed Wynne Band sound, very evocative of Ozrics from that era!!: www.facebook.com/groups/ozrics30/permalink/2256054907782266/

Yes it's true they were better then (I could say the same about the studio albums). But TBH I would settle for just about any lineup just to see the man play!
Shimmer into Nature has restored my previously lapsed faith... it's exactly the album I needed at this point in time and space.

Amen to that re. Shimmer! It's got me hooked. So glad that Ed is back into playing live and it's very cool that he's playing along with Gong; seems like this is his way of warming up his new band and I am hopeful a lot more will come after this. Seemed like there were so many obstacles for the Ozrics in recent years with the fires, illness, flooded equipment etc....but now things have turned a corner and Ed is taking off again!

And separation as well...that's rarely easy (been there, done that!). I am also glad things seem to be taking off for Ed.

Indeed re. separation. Also been there, not easy and even less so I would imagine if playing in the same band. But hopefully things end up best for all.
