We should bring this place back to life. Ozric Tentacles as an outfit has produced some of the most mind blowing music ever made and it strikes me as shameful that this board is ignored by the massive fanbase I see all over the internet. Every musician I've ever introduced this band to has eaten it whole, not to mention the shroomers and the deadheads.
I'm generally a lurker because of my love of privacy, but, as I've already decided to start putting my own music out into the verse, I've decided to take active participation in this particular crevasse of activity in the hopes that as many people as possible discover the wonderful idea Ed had 35ish years ago.
Honestly, I think that Ozric Tentacles should live on as a multi-generational project from whom torches are passed only to the most worthy. Seeing Silas totally nail that concert in Denver, I feel/dream that maybe my grandchildren might be clawing at me to get them a hardcopy of the latest Ozrics album in the year 2077. Hopefully they'd have found a new woodwind player by then, tee hee...
That ridiculous opinion aside, I look forward to at least attempting to talk to everyone who still looks at this place! Who knows, maybe my equally silly mission to bring people here will work!

I don't think it's just this board that's dwindled. Facebook and other social media seems to be where a lot more activity happens these days. I can't be bothered with that personally.
I'm guessing the Ozrics peak in terms of popularity was probably the 90's but I'd say there's still a lot of fans around, they're just elsewhere...

A couple of people are probably up for chatting here. It's just that a lot has already been discussed. Feel free to start your won topics or revive old ones you may want to comment on. I'm usually up for a chat as I avoid the social media and I'm still addicted to the Ozrics.

Yes, its very sad...it was quite an active place 10 years ago or so, then dwindled and then revived for a period. Facebook Ozric groups are very active but I don't go on FB much now that it looks like the inside of a teenager's e-number infested mind.

When the board changed to its current layout/design a few years ago the place went dead as a dodo. I Made a comment about it at the time. Band members were regular contributors, dont think Brandi has posted in ages??? Not as regular as previously anyway.

Still here and worried about Ed's health. Silence isn't helping anything.

silence is golden - they must be in the studio (been almost two years since last release, and there's not even a rumour yet.,.,., maybe they are toying with us after that terrifying statement from TOTS ("if for some reason this turned out to be our last album ever then we would be ok with that" )

Ed once said in an interview that he spends most days in the recording studio and usually has 5-6 tracks in production. Don't forget they have done a lot of gigs in the past few years, they performed superbly at live gigs last September where Ed was seen having a pre-performance walkabout in the audience. Listening to the superb 'Technicians' album there is a whole lot of time-consuming programming going on there, I just love 'Zingbong' 'Switchback' 'Far memory', still ploughing the furrow of independent genre-defying progressive electronic rock.

I forgot to say 'psychedelic'...last night the bbc showed a tv programme about music lp's / albums, how they have made rock stars 'immortal' and allowed a greater form of artistic expression. they mentioned the psychedelic offerings in the 60's where the advantage of long players over 7" singles for listeners not to have to jump up to change the record every 3 minutes, not to mention the eminent suitability of the album cover for rolling doobies. Ozrics albums are very long playing and allow the listener to sit for extended periods transfixed and slack-jawed with concentrated cosmic intelligenc on the subject of this messageboard I have found it to be a source of great wisdom and insight.

I think the name, lack of lyrics, complete unfashionability after '93, relative - in this day and age - obscurity, as well as the sheer length of time all his has been going on for make them a no-no for the general public.
What I find a shame is that although imo they should be viewed as the forefathers of modern electronic psychedelic genres such as psytrance and psy-downtempo, they are virtually unknown in these crowds, save the odd mention.

Alright everyone I've been listening to my Ozrics again, going through the catalogue from the beginning and currently still voyaging my way through it. I deliberately stopped listening to them for a good three, four years or so, because i was loosing my ozric buzz, and it was kind of sad, as they are my special band, (its a personal sort of deep thing, its like a connection that i cant explain), corny i know, but i didn't want to listen to stale Ozrics, and so i steered clear of them and because of that, i lost touch with this board. Ive only listened to Techs once, and i was bit underwhelmed with it, and that cemented my decision even further to put them to one side for awhile. Also i was logging on to this board and in the end posting and saying nothing as i had run out of things to say, it all seemed to be covered or just repeating itself. Anyway im up to Jurassic Shift now, and although there will be no surprises, the highs are gonna hit the high once again and Sunhair and rest of them will sound awesome once more.

Hello Watermill.....and welcome back. I was hoping to see you at Islington as Ozrics have been playing there most every year. I have now seen Ozrics 27 times and in 2015 I saw them 7 times twice in Holland and 5 times here in England. SENT YOU A PERSONAL MESSAGE

I'm back as well, I took a similar decision to what WATERMILL describes. but I just love the Ozric Tentacles. so i'm revisiting the classic catalogue and having such a wonderful time. the distance just made it all so fresh again. I missed this board there are so many nice people here.

Its around Curious Corn, Spice Doubt to Spirals that seem to hold their novelty more as the older albums i know backwards, its these mid career albums that have had less listening time in the past and so revisiting the Rad era is quite moving, songs like Papyrus, Tight Spin and Vibuthi are classics. Even though its been awhile, you remember the little twist and turns the music takes you in Eternal Wheel or Space Between Your Ears, but the likes of say Vibuthi and Curious Corn, those little journeys are the ones that surprise you again... thats how it is for me anyway.

that's very true, I'm just grabbing albums randomly, and flowing with them. but to be honest I'm aching for a Shroomy trip with the classic Ozric soundtrack. some of the classics hold a lot of emotional value to me.

Hello Yogbarogger, it's good to know a few of us are still around. Sliding Gliding worlds or Bits between bits, Nice. I bought the remastered versions and never had a special time for listening, I still have the original ones as well. How's Canada? I've been thinking on traveling to Canada or to Scandinavia ( never seen the Northen Lights). Hope all is well with all of you!

Hi people. I'm new here, just checking out YumYum Tree again. Sounds great through my big JBLs. Who needs headphones when you can have real bottom end and soundstage for bands like Ozrics? Anyway, where can we get posters/pictures of Ozric album covers? Some are pretty decent as art. Peace & psychedelica (and...DRUMS!)
