Hi folks, I was just wondering how on earth does Brandi accomplish a live bass sound that seems like a solid object to the audience, my own BG sound is usually too twangy and thin compared to this huge wall of subby bass, although admittedly i don't have any hardware to compress / eq the tone, and i don't have aluminium drivers (if that makes a difference?) in any case i wouldn't know how to set up these things to get that tone anyway, if any of you lovely Bass players out there in the ether have any ideas then please share.,,.,. thanks in antici_pation

From what I saw , brandi's bass is a fender deluxe PJ bass with active microphones ( maybe 2 EQ and/or the balance between the two microphones ? I don't know how these knobs are functioning ) . So first I would recommend that you get active microphone system on your bass if you don't have it yet. It gives a better low-end and make your bass sound more present. As for the wall and the sub, it's difficult to get the same amount of sub as in stage condition unless you got it home accompanied with nice & comprehensive neighbors ;-) Still if you want sub you need at least a 15 inches woofer amplifier. A nice one that you can find for cheap price is the Crate BX-160 XL . It has a knob that change the master tone and make the sound really subbb ! I miss it

ah yes - I was wondering whether maybe something like an octave (down - or two even) pedal and maybe some way to exclude the dry signal (maybe two channels out of octaver and leaving one unplugged or something.... certainly the amp i have sounds truly disgusting no matter what you put through it - maybe a transistor needs replacing or something.,, even then though - cone is only about ten inches diameter and it's a little practice amp so probly wouldn't be able to get it that way. still wondering whether aluminium drivers or something with gating or compresion and eq,.,.
