Sorry Yiannis that I am of no help....... it seems I ordered my vinyl by mistake and phoned company to ask where my cd was they replied that I ordered vinyl and that is what I received and to this day it remains in package sent on the shelf with all my other albums. I did purchase cd as well so I have listened to TOTS several times.

I got the vinyl, still unopened in amazon packaging since I don't have a vinyl player at the moment; might as well open it and have a few photos taken.

I've just decided to buy the vinyl now after listening to the cd, which is to my ears is completely sonically squashed. I've always loved how the Ozrics have taken to sound quality of their music. Paper Monkeys didn't sound like this. I LOVE the album that is. All the music is amazing, but the dynamics are just destroyed. I have a reasonably decent vinyl rig, so I'll chime in once I get it:)

All the music is amazing, but the dynamics are just destroyed. Unfortunately this has been a trend for a long time (not with Ozrics so much as in general). I believe things are changing slowly but there are still too many records being put out that are overly squashed. Black Sabbath's 13 was a good example. Good music, but rendered a bit lifeless by the heavy handed production.

Everything I have from the in lossless sounds great and not squashed. Hoping the vinyl will be mastered with more dynamics. JUST ordered it from burningshed. I'm from Canada, so we'll see what the conversions end up being once I get the bill:/

Vinyl received! Beautiful packaging, and the records are flawless. Sound quality is quite stunning, and there is wonderful dynamics. Very pleased. If the vinyl is just a pressing of the cd master its totally fooled me. Sounds much better to me. Certainly recommended!

I don't think it wouldn't be a pressing of the CD master, as vinyl has to be mastered differently due to the requirements of the format. Ironically CD is capable of greater dynamic range than vinyl, but too often this is not utilised, resulting in CD masters having a louder average volume and less dynamics. I think this could be one reason vinyl is often claimed to sound better - more to do with how it is less squashed in the mastering process.

Yep for sure. I grew up in the cd 90's and still have albums that sound pretty good, sort of pre 95ish ( I think the storie goes is Oasis Whats the Story.. was the first album to really start the brickwall limiting thing).
I record and mix/master music on the side, and in the past year really started comparing all the digital formats I've collected. Coming to realize all the old great albums had tons of headroom on the master and being able to hear things breath really changed my perspective and attention to these things. I've now stopped brickwall limiting and I much prefer the results.

Interesting to hear that. Yes, I'd heard the mid 90's was when it started going downhill, not that I was attuned to it back then. I started listening more seriously in the late 1980's, a bit before, but spent most of my teenage years listening to 70's stuff which must have rubbed off. Not that 70's production was always good mind you... but at least not squashed.

Thank you ampaudio. Are there any jackets for the records or are they just plain white/transparent ones?

Thank you ampaudio. Are there any jackets for the records or are they just plain white/transparent ones? My pleasure! The jackets are straight black with clear plastic inside
