Hopefully the Ullulators' CDs will come out some time late this year-early next year? I'm assuming they will be limited edition - I wouldn't expect them to sell more than a few hundred copies - so I hope I find out about them in time so that they're still available. I must admit that I've only listened to Timeshard's tapes once or twice each so I can't remember much. The version of Cosmic Carrot on the Peel Your Head compilation is better t in Norwichhan that on Crystal Oscillations though for sure. As are all the tracks on PYH. Of all the Planet Dog artists I wish Children of the Bong had released more stuff. Did you ever go to a Megadog party supernovaowner? I hope I don't miss the remastered CD releases either!. I also wish Children of the Bong had released some more stuff!,'Squigglasonicia', is one of my all time favorite tracks ever!.I just love the way it builds up the tension!...LOL!. I don't think I got to go to any of the 'proper' Megadog nights, well not in London that is....TBH,I cannot really remember what I did go to,and what I didnt!,as it was in the early to mid 90's,and I was rather 'chemically enhanced' throughout that period in time....Ah!,the joys of a misspent youth!. I think the PYH CD was where I first heard Timeshard, but unfortunately, being young, and stupid,I sold off most of my collection, due to poverty!, even all my Ozric's stuff was sold off....The one CD I wish I never sold was called something like 'Trance Europe Express 2' which had the Eat static track 'Element 115'...I look back now,and cringe at all the stuff I sold off!. But oh well,we live, learn, and prosper!. I now cannot remember the last time I had to sell anything to make ends meet!.I have managed to re-purchased 95% of everything I sold, and I still have my original Ozric pin badges, and tie dye flag,so it aint all bad....LOL! Once again Discogs has come up trumps!.....Trance Europe Express 2,ordered!.

I was a Hillage fan first, and a friend I used to jam with told me I'd probably like the Ozrics. I went to my local buy and sell record shop and bought the Afterswish CD. First couple of listens I wasn't that blown away, and then one evening I got really stoned and listened to Fetch Me the Pongmaster and it all just made sense.
The next few years hunting for their albums were pure magic - no internet, just getting the bus to big cities to look for albums. Every time I managed to find one of their albums was ecstasy.

I read about Ozrics in Facelift Magazine (primarily Canterbury music) in the 90s....saw they were playing in my city and took a chance and went ....I was hooked!

The question is, why didn't I discover them much earlier? I started doing free-form progressive rock "FM underground" radio in 1969 and continued to do that kind of radio until the genre died around 1980. I became very knowledgeable of progressive rock. I stayed employed in radio by branching out to AOR, even AM (I was Music Director of an oldies station for a few years), news, etc. I ended up at a classic rock station in the mid-1990s and was so burned out on rock music by then I retired from radio in 1996 and explored other types of music. 20 years later I was ready to start a progressive rock internet radio station, back to my roots. In the early 1990s, on broadcast radio, I did an annual 3-hour Halloween show. The sky's the limit on internet radio, so started building a separate library for that (it's now 13 days long!). In that process I came across the Italian band Goblin. I liked them and looked for any similar bands. When I saw one called Ozric Tentacles I checked them out. The first track I heard was Lemon Kush and I was instantly smitten. That was 2018. They quickly became my new favorite band. If you're interested, my progressive rock internet radio station is at: www.ERS.rocks

I was a Hillage fan first, I interviewed Steve Hillage in 1976 after the L album came out. He was with Miquette Giraudy and Clive Bunker, original drummer for Jethro Tull. I digitized the cassette of the interview a couple of years ago.

I digitized the cassette of the interview a couple of years ago. What was he like to interview? I'd be interested to hear the recording if it's available anywhere. It was interesting to say the least. I'll never forget Miquette Giraudy saying, in a thick French accent, "I am so fascinated with zee synthesizaire". I asked Clive Bunker where he'd been and he said "I'd try out with this band and try out for that band....". I smoked joints English-style with them, pot mixed with tobacco. Although I was a smoker at the time, it was nasty. I asked about Gong of course. He said the band was made up of English and French musicians so they were always exotic. If they played in England they were thought of as a French band, and if they played in France they were regarded as an English band. Correction: The interview was done on January 22, 1977 in a motel room and recorded on cassette (which I digitized almost exactly 40 years later, so the audio quality leaves a lot to be desired). It was his first American tour and 3rd U.S. gig. Here's the complete interview: ers.rocks/audio/Hillage77.mp3Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. I haven't listened to all of it yet but so far I can make out most of the words at least from Steve. Good job with the interview.
