Hi, I will be at Alkmaar only as I can't get to Leeuwarden from work in time and I need to save my holidays for other plans. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hotel in Alkmaar not to far from the gig?

I have answered my own question, I have booked the Familie Hotel in Alkmaar which is very close to the venue.

Sorry for my bad English... Just got back from the Alkmaar gig.... The band played fantastic, the new songs sound great but the crowd was so noisy :-( People were constantly talking/shouting too each other during the songs. Realy disrespectful towards the band and the fans who just want too enjoy the concert...

Just got back a few hours ago from my trip to the Netherlands and as always I had a fantastic time despite me being not 100%.
So what of the gig in Leeuwarden well they started with Jurasic Shift then the best Sploosh I've ever heard. I thought show was totally brilliant 10/10. Then it was Alkmaar this was one spectacular show 10/10+. You should have seen the look of the Ozric band members when they thought the would be performing in front of about 10 or so but as Mantish Mash open show the hall was filling nicely and what a mental crowd Brandi mentioned that it was a great crowd. Show opened again with J.S and Sploosh a track that was never a favourite of mine but is now....it is mental!!!! and what of the new stuff well that longish track is totally FANTASTIC and I hope to hear it many times. I journeyed back from Alkmaar with Dominic and Kitty and I asked Dominic if this longish track sounds anything like it does live and he assured me it does, you folks are going to love it especially when played live

I hope the Ozrics open show with Jurasic shift and that mental track Sploosh for Islington as it is spectactular and please please that long new track don't know the name of yet but I will remember when I get my cds....not to many days now I hope. So who did I meet with at these two Ozric gigs I chatted with a few at Leeuwarden but did much better at Alkmaar where I chatted a long time with NL. Pete plus Dominic, Kitty, Balazs plus his friend and made some new Ozric friends as well. I got 5 gigs booked in the UK and can not wait to see gig and see my Ozric friends also.

Hi, Alkmaar was a good gig, but as often happens in these smaller venues on a weekend night you get a fair few locals who go to the gig as their Saturday night out and if they don't like or know the music they tend to stand around chatting which is what Niels mentioned above. I've seen this a few times and not just for Ozric gigs.
That said it was a good gig and I'm looking forward to the new CD dropping into my mail box in the next few days.
Did I dream it or did Brandi say something about seeing us in the Autumn as they left stage?

Is there any truth that Ozric Tentacles are to tour again later this year.

Yes, they didn´t mention Epiphlioy on the Kranj setlist but the other thing is, that it wasn´t played 100% like it´s on the album.

Realy disrespectful towards the band and the fans who just want too enjoy the concert... Hear hear! I fully agree with you. I was in Leeuwarden and at one point I thought about leaving. Like, just leaving because wherever I stood, there was someone shouting within a two meter radius. I can't imagine how someone could be so annoying to the rest of the fans and the band! It seems Dutch people (I am ashamed to say) have quite a reputation when it comes to talking - even shouting - during concerts...

It's such irony that Dutch crowds would be the chatty ones and not high out of their fricking minds due to lenient stance on weed usage. Here in Kranj we were all blissed out, not a peep from anyone in the crowd.

It's got to the point now where if someone is talking loudly near me I tell them to shut up. It's not just me, several other people I know now do the same.

It's got to the point now where if someone is talking loudly near me I tell them to shut up. It's not just me, several other people I know now do the same. We are doing that for quite some time. Most of the times it works, but at the Ozric gig there where 30-40 "fans" talking to each other so that was a "mission impossible" The thing that upset me the most was a guy (long hair, wearing a Ozric shirt) who was standing in front of the stage. From the beginning until the time we left (1/2 hour earlier, cause we've had it) he was standing with his back to the stage! He did not see the band/stage/visuals at all.... what a douchebag sick

Interesting post, Jo. I certainly don't like to hear people talk when I'm at an Ozrics gig, but I rarely watch what's happening on stage. I've found I enjoy it more with eyes closed.

If it´s indoor, really crowed and no space to dance for example - i like to close eyes too for long time. On the anniversary tour in Bruxelles with plenty people and no space to move like cage system housing, i saw people in the back which sat down straight, cross-legged and close their eyes till concert ends.
