that is one fantastic album.. Pixel Dream, Tight Spin, The Hidden Step...... fantastic tracks to start a day.
I had the intro "pling pling plong plong"to Hidden Step running around my head this morning after waking. I must say I think some of the synth sounds really have a cadence and timbre of steel drums. I have noticed this with some Ozrics tunes. I think that captures the sunshine and bring some really positive uplifting vibe myself. I also find that final synth melody in Jurassic Shift making me feel like I am in the Carribean.
I reckon Ozrics could well have a tune with Paul Hankin playing a steel drum, with dotted delays of cause !

Love THS, all the tunes have something special about them. Pixel Dream -with or without added jam- and Aramanu came out great live the few times I saw them. I was a bit puzzled the first time I saw the front cover as I had expected the usual til then Blim drawing. The shades of blue on it really suit the mood of the album though. I also find that final synth melody in Jurassic Shift making me feel like I am in the Carribean. Yeah, I get that too.

Cool Yiannis I am glad I am not the only one getting the Carribean vibe from that sound. Pretty sure it's the steel drum feel on the synth sound.

I get the steel drum impression too! It could have something to do with the Novation Supernova synth which has quite a glassy, metallic, tingly character. The year that The Hidden Step was released also times in with the release of the Supernova, I think. I remember reading an interview that either the title track, or the whole album, was done with the Supernova. Also Pyramidion.
Yeah, those chords at the end of Jurassic Shift are lovely.
