I thought it would be fun to see who here plays music and maybe give folks a chance to post their soundcloud so we can all learn about some new schtuff.
Also if anyone uses Propllerheads Reason...I guess it doesn't matter what software you use...but how killer would it be to collaborate on a group project. It doesn't have to be all fancy it could be just a stream of consciousness output where people play the first thing that comes to their mind and than the next person can do their thing. If we use dropbox and upload our ideas that would be a way to collaborate...ideally it would be easier if everyone had the same software, but I have a feeling that isn't very practical approach so if everyone were to export/bounce down their ideas at 24bit/44.1khz we could all have the option to import into our DAW of choice. I could mix it once all the tracks are done, or better yet we could all take a stab at it and see who comes up with what...I bet there would be some good remixes too! Anybody down? I could get the ball rolling with a beat or maybe someone could supply a chord progression...
Thanks for reading! Mark /Echodrum

Hi Mark. If you supply a Drum Beat, I can provide a chord progression.

Hiya I do, but very infrequently now I am afraid. If this does get traction may I suggest that the initial files created (especially those involving drums) are peaked at -12dBFS or so as this will allow plenty of headroom for any overdubs etc.

Hi Mark. If you supply a Drum Beat, I can provide a chord progression. That sounds like a plan! I'll get to working on it asap and post a link soonish nice tracks mate..thanks for sharing. I like the ambient vibe going on in your tracks...maybe you could add some type of pads or strings to the gumbo? also...here is mine soundcloud.com/echodroneband

okay guys and gals...here is a basic beat to get y'all going. once a chord progression develops I'll go back in and make the beat less static and provide more variety...it was hard to make a beat with nothing in context but I feel it's got a groove so I hope this inspires some of you to do your thang. I did this in reason and played the beat with my fingers on my macbook keypad www.dropbox.com/s/pxxgk721o0zavj0/ozric%20colab%20beat_86bpm_24bit_44.1khz.aifhave fun! mark

Hi sounds like a really fun idea and I'm interested in collaborating? Anyone put anything over that beat yet? I'd be happy to give it a shot.
To hear my music search minds of infinity and you will find.
Cheers

Hey w1sper! Awesome to hear you're interested in joining in on the fun. I don't think anyone has done anything yet, but it would be great if you added something. Are you the guitarist from your band? I checked out some of your tracks including the live performance. I am down to add some more stuff to it even if it's just me and you. I live for music and the process of creating it gives me the reason to live and wake up everyday..I am in it for life Thanks for responding and I look forward to hearing what you come up with. /mark echodrum

I'd love to give some sort of synth solo a try once I get an idea of where this is going in time & space.

Sounds great! Over the weekend here I will open it up and see if anything comes out! Always fun to do some musical exploration! I'm on my phone now but I'll check out the clip on my computer and play with it.
In minds of infinity we both play the guitar but in the clip you saw (i wish someone would gave taped the other songs because that clip isnt a great section) I am on keys. I write the tunes though and do the recording I am always recording with mike the other guy though so maybe he could participate too. Cheers man!

Unfortunately I don't have Reason (as it were), but could always upload audio to paste in.. Is there a chord sequence yet, Damien?

Any chance you can export your midi sequence to audio? It's coming out kind of weird on my end.. probably because you have better midi instruments and it's in a really low key on my end. I appreciate you doing this Damien! Well, here's what I did with the beat before the chord sequence was uploaded : www.filedropper.com/ozriccolab86bpmpreaJust a bassline with occasional pads, trying to leave plenty of space. Chord progression is roughly : E - F - E - F (x4) Dm - E - Am - Bdim/C ..but the whole thing is E 'Spanish Gypsy' - E, F, G#, A, B, C, D - (phrygian dominant?) that Ozrics use a lot. Or whatever sounds good to anyone who'd like to add something

I really dig what you did too! Maybe we could have two different ideas and whichever idea anyone else wants to contribute to we can go from there and keep building it...or I can make a new beat and we can have 2 different songs with two different beats?? Also what do you folks think of uploading your tracks separate from the mixes already uploaded, so we can isolate and mix stuff and play around with it and have a bit more control(so upload your bass line solo'd)...plus it would allow me to change the beat up so it has more of a logical sequence once more tracks get layered on it. Cheers, Echodrum
Yeah, I reckon that's definitely a good idea. I'll upload parts separately, later when I've access to that machine.
Could you also upload the guitary part for Damien's chord seq separately? (BTW, when I imported the midi into Cubase, the chords were 2 rather than 4 bars each at 86 bpm - maybe not the feel you wanted?)
Yep, interesting to hear different ideas off the same beat, and why not start another?

I used to play electric guitar & keyboards, then got in to producing Drum and Bass, was offered a contract, which fell through, and then got pulled into a career and lost all my hobbies one by one...so hoping to get back into making music.. and aiming for broader spectrum than just dance music ...into running a irate station.. I still DJ though ( D&B, House, Chill Out, Hip Hop) I won't be so cheeky as to post up links or anything I hope you all enjoy expressing through your music, I certainly have learnt a lot about sound engineering and mix downs. Always helpful , and worth learning about. It seems synths are now much cheaper second hand on e-bay btw if you were thinking of starting to play one
