With only eighty minutes worth of space on most cd's, what would you burn onto it as a brief best of, of the Ozric tentacles to introduce to your mates to them?

How about you pick the best track from each album? That should work pretty well. And make two CDs Oh and start of with Coily as the first track.

I had an old compilation I did on cassette years ago for the car...it started with Dissolution, and had Kick Muck, Saucers, White Rhino Tea, Erpland, Tidal Convergence, to name others I can't remember LOL.
Of course now with CDs I will have to compile a mix...it's soo difficult though - so many good tracks.

Its tougher to do an Ozric cd than most other bands, as when you do, say an Oasis cd for example for someone, its obvious what tunes to do even if it means doing it over two cd's, but with the Ozrics, most people who you try and introduce haven't got a clue what they're about, and with no obvious hits as such, just classic album sonic opuses all about roughly ten minutes long, its a case of, you gotta have one that includes guitar and flute, another with a blinding Ed solo, include some of the more trancey technoey type stuff, its just picking the best of each type and fitting in as much as you can...its a tough call.

Yeah, a great tune which is neglected by the ozrics, so the sleeve notes tell me and nether performed live, its got something to do with changing record companies i think, but i agree, another top tune that conjurs images and the one i would probably use to close my personel greatest hits...good call olpa.

I recently burned a c.d. for a mate of mine who had never heard of the Ozrics ( like most people I meet). It's an accessable chilled list 'cause I know he 's not much of a rocker. Sunhair Theres a Planet Here Become The Other Yoy Mandala Etherclock Dance of the Loomi Ping Zoemetra Vibuthi ( which pretty much sums up the Ozrics for me-I was in Marrakech a few years back and I played it to some local musicians who were totally blown away by it!!) Meander :-)

I love the idea of "scared turf" being Scared of "Kick Muck".
Possibly the track in question is "Sacred Turf" a la Wembley Footy stadium (boo ! footy is rubbish).
I find it too difficult to name my favourite tracks, When I'm in the right mode (thanks RT) I think whichever one I'm listening to is the best thing I ever heard. Although having said that ...

can't do anything wrong at all with the whole of Vitamin Enhanced. Pure Genius. What a wonderful thing to own. I think it should replace all of the seven wonders of the world, 6 cd's and a box. Done. After that, as far as I am concerned you can start listing those brick things.

I agree. It's just not feasible for me to make a best of (though a great idea). I seem to flick through tracks at random, to maybe come up with a current top ten, but every time I started playing the song I landed on, I ended up sat there listening to it all! I'm just drooling over TRAIN OASIS right now - what a sound! The band unashamedly boast and array of quality songs. They really were, are and always will be the yardstick band of this type of groove, gear and genre.

philly:man - yes its a wonderful "resting" song between other more intense ozrics - lol
Kirk: Funny - Was going to add that if you'd like to terrorize yourself add the song Kick Muck to the mix
sabbra: you should give it a try - i had never made a favorites list either - it was really challenging but i feel like i know the ozrics better than i did before now that i have

I bet I could put every Ozric song on my Ipod on shuffle and it would make a great compilation in any order, especially if you are riding down a mountain whilst listening on headphones. It just makes me realise what a good band they are

Chris De Burgh thinks he's a little green man but let's not pursue that one...

Does he ? I would have expected something a bit more Cosmic than "Lady in Red" then. Something more along the lines of "Pod brethren assimilate".

Kirk, you're forcing me to reveal my knowledge of Chris De Burgh's repetoire. He did a Christmas song once that went "la la la la la la la la laaaa..." something about a spaceship landing on Christmas day...It was like the Moody Blues but even more insipid and b*ll*cks.
Lady In Red refers to a shadowy image on the surface of Mars (I think).
